Update, tried to reinstall again facing the same issues; it seems the issue is maybe the display driver when windows updates with the final stage of installation?

Okay i may have managed to breakdown the issue; it appears to be ASPEED Display driver incompatible with windows 11 24h2? Or having difficulty switching between both nvidia and ASPEED?

I using ASPEED driver v1.15.01 with Windows 11 Pro x64 24H2 and not problem. But as primary display device I have set in bios PCIe NVIDIA.

Thanks JosefHrib how do I go ahead and set that? I seem to have an issue with aspeed being the primary driver.

Windows 11 24h2 is running fine now, even without using any parameters to disable secureboot and tpms as suggested. Thanks everyone, the issue was conflict between aspeed driver and my gpu

Hi everyone. Reading this thread over a month now. Are all SPR-SP's Production samples works on W790, not only Xeon-W's?

no, QS don't work. only SPR-SP stepping D0, and early E0(Q03J,Q08S)
i am not 100% but i guess the reason is:
SPR-SP's Production support only DMI3, W790 talks in DMI4 (SPR stepping D0 support still DMI4)

Easiest way to install Windows is using Rukus to flash the usb. Rukus disables Win 11 hardware requirements so you don't have to do it manualy.

On a separate note, I cannot install ubuntu on my machine as well. It seems like another problem :) I need to reset the ipmi password. Does anyone know if W790 has default IPMI password or was it on a box or board?

you are prompted to change it at first login.
to reset run ipmitool from 'that' machine(e.g. USB drive)

Thanks! I must have forgetting the password then because I remember using the IPMI.

yeah ipmitool is the problem. it only runs on ubuntu/linux and couldn't install ubuntu when I tried last time. I will try again, probably I need the latest Ubuntu.

W790 is an awesome motherboard btw, still one more in the garage as backup. Wish I could have bought one of the discounted ones for $300 but even at $800 used no complaints. I am especially happy as I learned about the saphire rapids refresh being available for this platform, 3-4 years later, I may get one of those chips to run under water for overclocking.

i run it on windows 10...there is a dos one. maybe a similar ASUS tool too.
ipmiutil should do it too, there is a EFI one.
Yeah but IPMI tool on Windows does not use the special channel for local access, it uses regular TCP/IP and it needs username/password to connect.

Let me know if I am wrong here. When I run ipmitool on the box, it is asking for hostname
