I sent H12SSL-i to tugm4470 to China for warranty repair for BMC not working. After 1,5 months and asking what's up, I received a word that the board is "damaged and cannot be repaired". I do not know where the damage is. I took macro shots of the board before shipping and couldn't see any damage. But it is what it is. Not very happy with Supermicro with this one, to say the least.

@AVID-MEDIA He is right about the Caps, SM uses ones with actual liquid electrolyte that don't like heat. Only work on the board with good shielding of those metallic cans and good ventilation.

@jei my condolences.
Damage to those little TI DC DC converters can be very hard to spot.
And they can sadly also kill the BMC if you are unlucky and they get damaged the wrong way.
Even when replacing the DC DC converters, a dead BMC will stay dead and pose a problem.
Likely what happened earlier with someone here in the thread. Happened with an H12 of mine as well.
Might have happened to you.
H12SSL uses an AST2500 those can be had reasonably cheaply i think.
H12DSi has the AST2600 which isn't so easily optained.

I'm interested, SM, asked you a question: should I send the MoBo back to you or recycle it?
SM didn't ask me anything. When first contacting SM directly (Europe) they said they do not deal with consumer stuff. I then sent it to tugm4470. Later when asking about the situation, I got an answer from tugm4470 that SM declared it unrepairable. I then followed up to ask to recycle it.

Hey everyone, it's been a while.
My faulty board was repaired in Taiwan and returned to me and is working fine.
So, I would like to report that the revision of the board I newly purchased from a Chinese seller was 1.10, and the U4 to U6 chips were missing.P_20240412_165426.jpgP_20240412_165433.jpg
