Dear STH Forum members,
it is not all o clear to me as howto the license setup works in a Hyper-V Setup with Windows Server 2019.
We have a 64 Core System that would run as the hypervisor - here I would install Windows Server 2019. On the Hypervisor we mostly have Windows Server systems...
I need help on a small project and hope anyone can help on this issue?
We are 5 people a life in a shared apartment. Our idea is to have one central server where anyone can create vms, each of us has is own VLAN to split the traffic from each other. But our issue we are real...
I'm trying to virtualize my 3 servers together and i'm wondering if DDA can achieve this
1. Server 2019 drivepool server connected to HGST 4u60 JBOD rack with LSI 9300 card
2. Server 2019 Diskless ccboot server with Intel dual 10G X520 and U.2 intel ssd

I want to enable the passthrough of my GeForce RTX 2080Ti GPU in Windows Server (2019 preferred) using DDA. I need to buy another motherboard, since my current Gigabyte AORUS Pro motherboard will not support the ACS. I don't want to buy another CPU, reusing my i9-9900K...

Have this issue where I have passed(DDA) a Tesla K40c to a Server 2016 VM and when i disable the Hyper-V display adapter the Generic non-pnp monitor uses the Windows Basic display adapter and not the Tesla. So Application like...
I have two VMs running on host machine, this occurs whether running individually or both running at same time. And am running in a highly secured environment, we could no longer use VMware.
Host: Windows 10 Enterprise.
Both seem to use same virtual connector, both are identically set up except...
I configured a live migration between two Hyper-V Server 2012 R2 servers without failover cluster in a domain scenario. I can successfully migrate a running virtual machine using powershell locally like this:
Move-VM VMSERVER1 HYPERV2 -IncludeStorage -DestinationStoragePath...
Hi all, last few months have been storage hell with RAID issues on a number of servers I look after. Clearly I am doing something wrong and I'm hoping this is a safe place to ask for some advice.
Back story: I have looked after a dozen or so "small business" servers for over fifteen years with...
So while doing some troubleshooting of my Windows 10 host I noticed that a process in task manager -- VMMEM -- that was eating up about 1GB of RAM at login for a little while and then it seems to disappear.
After some quick Googling it seems that the VMMEM process is related to Hyper-V...
Yes, I know pfSense is meant to run fine on abstracted virtual switches. But I have hardware that will expose SR-IOV to the VM, so I'd prefer to use that, if at all possible. I can provide SR-IOV to a Windows VM fine and can even find details for setting it up for Linux, but am getting nowhere...

I'm looking for a way to manage our new Hyper-V cluster that can separate Admin users from General users.
What we like to have is a setup where only our Hypervisor admins can do things like edit hosts/datastores/switches and such but still have an option where people from, say, the...
Great Home Lab / VM Server - Dell R710 Dual X5570 (16 Threads @ 3 Ghz each! ), 144 GB Ram, $595

I'm supprised to see the high CPU usage in guest VM on disk activity.
1-core CPU setup: up to 70%
2-core CPU setup: about 30%.
CPU usage on host is 2%.
-Host and guest OS: MS Server 2016
-SATA discs (Harddisk WD Re 500GB SATA, and SSD ADATA SP920 128GB)
Just made a topic to collect some info about GPU that works without issues in Hyper-V Guest thru DDA.
I'm tested Quadro K1200 and GTX 750 Ti, both have "Code 43" error in Device manager after first reboot.
Platform: Supermicro x9srl-f + E5-1650 v2
Host: Windows Server 2016
Trying to wrap my head around options for a home ESXi lab, which will be running mostly Windows VMs (6 - 10 VMs total, for stuff like SharePoint, Exhange, AD, other apps.).
My hardware knowledge is pretty out-of-date, so I need a hand!
My priorities are:
Docker has betas of both Docker for OS X as well as Docker for Windows. Macs were running every Docker team demo at the Dockercon 16 keynote today, however, there are a lot of us using Windows for newer hardware.
The Windows version requires Hyper-V which is nice since you do not need...
Hi, I know this has been covered briefly before though I cannot find the appropriate thread:

I've just recently...
