You need to do a boot block recovery update.
Add bios update to usb key and plug it to the front usb port.
Then put bios jumper to the reset position and boot the machine. Wait until it's done (machine goes off) put back bios jumper and remove the usb key machine should boot properly now.
do you know the jumper positions? i looked every single guide, but dont have.

Hello All, I recently purchased a secondhand p360 tiny gen 8 with a 12700. I have no problems booting the system with iGPU into windows. My problem is that when I go to install an external graphics card, I cant get the system to use the Dedicated Graphics card.

The Riser I am Using: FRU 5C50W00933. I read somewhere that this was a replacement for the 5C50W00910 that was recommending for my model on the main post.

The Graphics cards I am using: I'm interchanging between an ASrock RX6400 and a Arc A380 (with a single slot mod using the sparkle eco a310).

What I have tried so far:
- Updating the bios
- removed battery to clear CMOS
- Changing the Graphics setting to PEG from auto
- Interchanging the PCIe speeds from 4 to 3
- Buying a 2nd riser (5C50W00933) to see if it was a problem of my initial riser.
If anyone can make any suggestions I'd appreciate it.

anyone have a 3d print file for a m720q with vent hole for cooling added ?
Have a 8500T with a rx6400 for emulation but do not like having to keep the panel off due to the fans not getting proper air supply

I can cut holes but i think a whole 3d printer cover will look nicer

I've got an m75q gen 2 I am running Proxmox on that I am wanting to add 2.5Gbe to and I have a bit of decision paralysis.

Options appear to be:
1) USB RTL8125
2) M.2 (A+E key) RTL8125
3) M.2 (A+E key) i226v. Sadly, with an indeterminate NVM/Firmware version, found the OEM I think and emailed them to see since I can't find the firmware files anywhere. Intel has an updater in the driver pack but I can't determine what version and on the intel forums they tell people to contact the manufacturer.
Normally it's an easy decision between realtek and intel but the i225/226 have had enough problems I am a little hesitant. I found the Lenovo FRU: 5C50W31953 2.5Gbe adapter and it appears to use exactly the same connector in the same spot but it's not listed as compatible and seems foolish to spend $60-$80 on a part from China or the UK that I have no idea if it'll work and.. it'll still be realtek. If I knew it worked I'd be inclined to go that way, I always prefer factory parts where possible. I am almost certain it will not work but though.
I am leaning toward realtek and just going with a USB unit. It sits tucked away so the dongle isn't much of an issue and seems like an easier solution than the m.2. If the intel NIC was rock sold then it would be worth spending a good chunk more and dealing with placing it internally but it seems that isn't the case.

All of this is a long winded way of saying I could use some input to help me decide. Thanks in advance!

I also received a riser from WiFiCable. Using it on an m920x with a video card plugged into it. I'll be using the m.2 slot on the riser for extra ethernet ports. How are you able to remove the standoff?
The standoff put off a fight, to remove it I added a bit of flux, and a bit of leaded solder, then I used my hot air station set to 240°C plus my soldering iron (a cheapo JBC 25W non adjustable one, with a 3mm chisel tip), had to give it some 2 minutes of pre-heating with both the iron and the hot air before the solder started to melt, then I used a tweezer to twist and slowly pull it, that standoff has a center that goes on a hole/pad on the PCB, so it's harder than expected to pull off.

If you have an hot air station it's doable, I would try to remove it with just a soldering iron, even if it is a 60-80W model.

Bought an Sparkle Genie Arc A380 and Sparkle Eco A310 , Swapped the coolers and added a small heatsink to the VRM as shown in this video.

I'd assume this only works with 11th gen an up that supports rebar in the bios. I have a P360 tiny with a 12th gen but I haven't got it to work.

Yeah, I've tested a lot this ... I've made posts here before. It seems that the GPU wont work because of some sort of PCI lanes config or structure.
Its not the GPU the wont work, I've tried a 4-port NIC ... it never worked. I'm just using the intel arc on a m920q

With some bios modding rebar is possible.
github.com/xCuri0/ReBarUEFI?tab=readme-ov-file

Btw found a good guide how to mod the tiny bios on the m710/m720 and m910/m920.

@Rods
Hmm that's bad, your bios is bricked then.

For anyone looking for a PCI riser, I can recommened this from Ali Express

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/100....order_list.order_list_main.16.66bd1802zsdjD8

Cost £4.99 (5 UKP) when I purchased it, with *free* deleivery to UK. Arrived *very* well packaged. Installed into the 720, no problems. Installed a 10Gtek Inet X540-T2 NIC. Powered on and booted to Windows.... Yay! Device Manager sees it. Installed the drivers, and works at 1GB and 10GB. I didn't expect it to work, but thought £5 (free delivery!) Heck, the packaging and shipping muct come to close onto that - it was delivered Royal Mail 48hr tracked!

Installed, tested, been running for a couple of hours. And if it breaks... well, it cost me less than two coffees at Cafe Nero.

Now, anyone know of a source for 720q dual NIC backplanes? The 10GTek ships with stnadard and low-profile bankplanes.

Yeah I've seen that guide, but looks like for the m90q Gen 3 it wont work. (At least I couldnt enable Above 4g)
While the guide stated that 4G decoding is optional, I couldn't manage to make it work.
So for some reason the arc eco and also a 4-port NIC wont work, hopefully in the future someone will gives us some clues as to why it doesnt work :D

My new Proxmox Hypervisor:)
M720q with 9500T
2x 32GB RAM 2666
Proxmox SSD: either 850 Pro SATA or M.2 2230
4TB Lexar NM790 for data
NIC: either X520-DA2 10GBit SFP+ (existing), or X550-T2 (searching: one of the few which should be able to handle also 2.5GBit)

proxmox:
  • OPNSense
  • PiHole
  • Cloudflared
  • Omada Controller
  • Home Assistant
  • TrueNAS Scale (to use 4TB NVME as NFS storage for Nextcloud & Kavita)
  • Nextcloud
  • PhotoPrism (pictures stored on my Fileserver)
  • Jellyfin (Movies, Music stored on my Fileserver)
  • Kavita
  • Paperless-ngx
Huge Setup but I'm worried about the internal temperature . I think the closed case it is not a good solution for an high intensive task pc

Hi All,

Today I build a bare metal opnsense router for my 1gb up/down PPPoE connection from my m720q, but I was wondering if I could drop the idle usage a little bit more, it sits now @12.1W.

specs are:
I5 9500T
256gb gigabyte nvme SSD
2x8 gb gskill ram
Intel i350-t4 using a pci riser
90W psu

already updated the bios to the latest version and disabled some stuff I don’t use like onboard audio, sata and the build in Ethernet port.

In opnsense I enabled powerd using adaptive.
Any ideas? Or is this what I can expect with this setup?

No, it is not possible to lower the idle power absorption
