I have haggled my dealer down to 181 EUR ex VAT per server - I am very close to jumping :) and 30 EUR total shipping for 5 servers, which is quite cheap in my opinion. (181 if I buy 5)

Regarding you problem with RAM, maintanance manual says that after memory error, you need to reset the error status after replacing memory. Maybe worth the try?
Never done that and when its working it worked all the time.
Or rather I did not care about error status, the box wouldnt boot with the other modules in place, just beeping for invalid configuration.

Did you have any issues with first PCIe slot (closest to CPU)? Manual states that it's "Dedicated slot for boot controllers".
No, had the CX3 or nvme in it, both worked fine.

Also, didnt find the q any more, but a regular 3 pin fan worked just fine as Sys Fan .

Damn - just realized that I do not have enough open ports for 10x 10Gbps conections for 5 servers, so that changes the calculation quite a bit, since I now also have to acquire 10+ extra 10gps ports :)

but you got 5 dual 10G nics already?;)
I actually think I do :)
But those are cheaper anyway :-D - but good point - I have found a 8port netgear XS708T cheap, so if the seller is willing to sell me that I can have 5 ports on each switch and pretend its for failover purposes :)

Not that 40Gbps uses less power :) If you also factor in your need a switch capable of 40gbps - and I sold my 40gbps gear a while a go, so I am definately not buying that stuff back :)

Specs says min 26.3w, MAX when all ports fully used @line rate 49.5w - so quite a bit :)
But if you can find a SX6012 for me thats not extremely expensive, then I am all ears :) I can buy this switch for 130 EUR - if you have a SX6012 you can sell me for the same or slightly higher - I will buy it :)

Ofcourse I could also buy a SX6005, which probably have similar power consumption - and I would have a "dumb" switch which probably would be just fine if its primarily used for storage network.

In hindsigt - I should probably not have sold my SX6018 that I had :)

If someone is on the hunt for a 'possibly' cheap pair of E3 1230 v5 for these Fujitsu TX1320 M3 (if supported???) with a last sec sniper >> eBay

I was gonna pick up this one for cheap to try, but 15 observers? :O Dont think it will go particularly cheap...

I often gave up because of 20-30 observers and didn't set up the sniper because I thought it will never allow me to go cheap here. Often, the bid I saw was just the selling price. Maybe you are right, but what prevents you to bid at the last sec at the max you want to go? If it doesn't work ok, if it works, you got a cheap popular item ... at least for the moment.

EDIT: I believe E3 12x5's have the graphic unit inside and are less 'energy efficient' ;)

Realistic:p

Also, it took me 8 boxes to get 5 working completely fine - one got memory issues, two had problems flashing the latest iRMC version.
Kudos to the seller though, they kept on sending replacement units (free of charge) 'till i was happy and to boot I can keep the 3 semi-functional ones :)

Thats nice of them, but considering the unit price ex shipping its not really surprising.

I think you should send me one of the units that cannot be flashed - then I will try it with a v5 e3, and then we have a definite answer to that question. I will obviously pay for the shipping :)

Well if you look at what the individual spare parts cost ... I am quite happy with it :)

And I can do that o/c, but you might wanna check if it is not cheaper to send the cpu back and forth than sending then chassis one way...
