I've been busy buying crap, there's a R9 Nano on the bench rig now lol, I gotta find me waterblock for it someday.
you can potentially mount corsair h80 or h60 with zip ties - but its not nice looking - and pretty much same as fury-x.

its really not worth it. This card is just meh
blue sapphire 290x 8G or 390x would be much better. *(i haven't investigated it - but there's a chance it can be upgraded to 16 or even 32G vram - and it can overclock if you can cool it - might even overshoot 980ti - and come close to 1080ti.)

In other news, I bought a 'brother' for the free HD6850 I found on the street half a year ago, it should be arriving with the rest of my crap from the USA next week.

i still have ref. 6950 flashed to 6970 somewhere around the house (framed)
Crap generation if you ask me - 7970 was lit, especialy asus directcu ii or upper end matrix. ~> those could oc, and keep it cool - the design was mind blowing.

(it was when asus was great computer company -> before asus went to crapper with 290x series, and any future cards they made since)

Finally sold that goddamn 2080 Ti KPE. Yay money.

That I will likely spend on a 3090 Ti Suprim X, A770 LE or B580 sooner than later though.

A thing I noticed with most old GPUs is that they're incredibly memory bottlenecked. That 580? It faceplants in anything newer than Superposition because of it's 1.5GB VRAM.

You can try to reach out to some guys that fix gpu's - the old gpu's are fairly open -> you can upgrade their vram with ease (double-quad it)

I can't do BGA rework and paying someone to upgrade a 580 is a fool's errand.

We have a guy here in us - that does things as such and more for quite cheap (but again those cards won't benefit a lot in terms of performance - but might allow you to play some games/run some benchmarks that require more than its available buffer).
Though some cards can clearly benefit from larger buffer - as they were held back by it.
Quite sure you could learn how to reball, solder memory - its not as hard as people make it out to be.

If I could be arsed to, sure! These days I'm not too interested in chasing WRs and just benching for fun.

Received my crap from the USA again. Still need to test the 6850 I cleaned and repasted. The Klevv 4x8GB DDR3-2666 kit works (at 2400 because lol shit IMC on this 8150)

And I also got a absolute ****ton of female QD3s. (9 of them)

6850 tested and working, need to be in the mood to setup a bench OS for it though (and I also gotta find a damn CrossFire bridge)

I wish CrossFire bridges were easier to get locally. no I can't be arsed to wait a month I want them NOW so I can bench those 6850s!
