I have a problem, and no it's not the fact I still owe you guys Better Retro Rig pics.

It's me buying hardware. I bought a used water cooled computer that had a M6F in it :skull: at least I can quite easily flip the board+CPU if I wanted to. Unironically, it was cheaper to buy a whole water cooled computer than just a D5 pump itself.

Still to do: find a triple slot 2-way SLI bridge, find the willpower to connect that damn power LED for the front panel again because it disconnected from the Q-Connector itself, and await delivery of my dual M.2-PCIe x8 adapter.

Aaaand my chiller just ****ing died. Great. €350 down the drain.

Shit like this is heavily making me reconsider just giving up on benching entirely.

Had the chiller looked at by a AC guy and he can't fix it because parts are obviously unobtanium.

Welp, into the trash it goes then. ****. At least titanium should have some scrap value. (the 500A's condenser is titanium)

I ended up changing the top rad of my main rig to a 480 GTS one, and damn hasn't my system been quieter.

Guess you really need push/pull for GTX rads. Also changed the thermal paste on my CPU (which was desperately needed!) and cleaned the block.

X-Fi Titanium, PCIe bifurcation card, full copper/nickel EKWB block and bigger VRM fan installed. (and topped up the res)

I bought a A770 LE waterblock off Ali :skull: thing really could use WC because at no power limit I'm nearing 85C at ~290W

On a completely different note, I've had this bizarre memory bandwidth issue on my R4BE:

I reset the CMOS and that fixed it

you should try i7-4820k - it can be clocked to 5GHz *maybe even 5.1; or you can try to get one of the black/ops cpu's.

4820K has a lot less cache than my downbinned 1680V2 though. What would be badass is one of the BLACKOPS hexacores. Binned for 4.6 GHz from the factory, but you need a **** you motherboard (like my R4BE) for them though.

if cache is what you are looking for, take a look at e5-2687Wv2 they are hot though. ; alternatively you can run e7-8893v2, but will need some work to get it over stock clock - (likely bclk oc - or chinese boards i hear some offer unlocked multiplier for xeons)
(one of those - vid here)

(at 5GHz 4820k should be still better than 1680v2 even with less cache)

the 2687W V2 is literally a 1680 V2 with SMP support and no unlocked multi, kinda useless tbh

i don't remember exact details anymore but i believe 2687Wv2 had better turbo scaling.
*(if i recall correctly 3.5GHz all cores, 3.7GHz 6c, 3.8GHz 4c, 4GHz 2c and ran fairly hot)
but i guess i agree, without mobo that can unlock it might be useless for oc.

*decent vid for modding bios (i know its haswell x99 platform, but... i guess similar things can be accomplished)
