Why do R9 Furies still go for absolutely retarded prices?

4GB VRAM and it gets beaten by a GTX 1080/RTX 2060 for not much more money.

Its something around 980/ti on good day (with r.id drivers) in certain games. Enabling compression and few other things supposedly breathes some new life into it - but most of the time you end up waiting for hbm as it has high latency that really hurts cards performance. (they are bad overclockers), but 290x msi lightening was great overclocker (on dice) i was able to push 1400MHz on core - and then it was around 1080 in performance. (reminds me how disappointment i was in fury-x performance - it was worse in many cases than my 290x's) ~ Hitman 2016 was supposedly best title for fury-x.

Fury X indeed overclocks like ass, I barely managed to get 1 benchmark run at 1200 MHz.

yeah you think you got it - but did you really? You see it lies.

As i recall there were ranges of clocks (specific clocks) where it would actually run and ones where it would actually "lie" downclock to last (or completely down to stock), or crash - what were those ranges? - i don't remember but they were odd ranges and didn't go like 1200 @ 500.
(it was more like 1125MHz @ 545.45MHz - really odd - as if there was an issue on the interposer and it needed to clock on specific frequencies to work.) ; and only non-ref i think powercolor/asus was able overclocker on dice or ln.

(also recommend this tool for testing if your mem oc actually works - if mem didn't go higher with hbm likely whole oc didn't work
GitHub - kruzer/poclmembench: calculates your gpu memory speed)

// and ups is a need for overclocking least to say it makes big difference.

Finally got my S478 boards back from 3dfx-alive for recap. God bless Stephan for putting up with DHL's bullshit and them screwing up the delivery of my parcel.

P4C800-E is unfortunately dead :'( the P4P800SEs work and at least one of them is rock solid now, even with a overclocked Pentium 4 3.4. So yes, it indeed was ****ed caps.

Would I recommend going to him for recapping? Mhm, hard to say. I'm pleased with the workmanship but god damn is shipping both ways a hassle.

Kingpins and R7 arrived. Damn they're nearly new!

And I immediately did jank things with them. Waterblocked one, and the other is in NVLink with the stock AIO. AND IT ****ING WORKS TOO!

Binned the KPEs and one has such a dogshit core it's offensive. Can't even do +125 offset :wtf:

Memory on that sample OCs very well though, I managed to hit +1600 offset with 1.5V vMem

I've been busy buying crap, there's a R9 Nano on the bench rig now lol, I gotta find me waterblock for it someday.
