Hi
Anyone can give me suggestions for a not too expensive 4 Ports (RJ45 2.5Gb) PCI Board that could work with MS-01 possibly based on Intel i226V or that could work well with Proxmox and a virtualised OPNSense ?
Thanks a lot

Has anyone tried to bond the interfaces on Debian/Ubuntu and successfully have stability? I have to plug in a 2.5 gbe port and bring down and up the bond for it to resume…

the bond seems to drop network packets daily and make the NICs unresponsive, I can’t even ssh into the host when it starts dropping packets.

i tried 4 different dac cables and 4 different SFP+ ports on the switch.

Same issue here with a bond of the 2x10 SFP+ interfaces ; not reliable at the moment. Packets randomly dropped.

Chinese New Year. You shouldn't expect any response at all during this time.

Also at the price point Minis Forum sells at, what kind of support were you expecting?

Minis Forum is a very small company that contracts out manufacturing to meet a design and price.

They have set up a distribution center (I think in Texas) to support their US customer orders without having to ship direct from overseas.

Yes, the "bbs" does not get very regular refreshes for new products and for some time getting a BIOS update was word of mouth and a link.

The responsiveness is mostly focused on sales issues like shipping and DOA's.

I am not slamming them in the least, they are essentially a start up. (they began in 2017) I was shocked they even had a booth @ CES last month.

If you or anyone else are disturbed at this, then probably Minis Forum shouldn't be on your short list.

They are run by BESSTAR TECH LTD. based in Shenzen but registered in Hong Kong.

The registration shows them in HK which is probably their filing attorney's office.

7/F, SPA CENTRE, 53-55 LOCKHART, ROAD, WANCHAI HONG KONG HONG KONG

Their name, logos and marks are registered globally.
Indeed, I received this e-mail message from Minisforum indicating that they have been on a break:

We hope all is well with you.

We have finished our Spring Break and are officially back to work.

Your emails and orders will be processed in order.

Thank you for your cooperation.
However, the lack of a Minisforum MS-01 support forum is still an issue. Perhaps they'll get around to configuring their BBS at some point.

Also guys, anyone from Europe who received tracking number from minisforum in Germany, have the box went to DHL? the tracking is only saying that DHL has only received the info.. nothing moved yet after some days.
Yes it did, I already received my unit today. It took ~4 days since "Order data transmitted electronically" status to arrive.

For you guys having dropped packets, are you getting any errors in the logs ?
What about the switch ?
I also tried updating the nvm firmware of the NIC to see if it would change something, but nope.
Code:
clariviere@k3s-wg-1:~/700Series/Linux_x64$ sudo ./nvmupdate64e

I'm in the same situation. After filing a complaint on February 19th, they sent me a DHL tracking number, which as of today, has not been updated.
You can try to change the thermal paste ... i will either way change the thermal paste with Noctua NT-H2 where i get great results everywhere. I buy new laptops and the 1st thing i do is that.

Also guys, anyone from Europe who received tracking number from minisforum in Germany, have the box went to DHL? the tracking is only saying that DHL has only received the info.. nothing moved yet after some days.

try enabling flow control on the switch for the bonded interfaces
some new logs appeared after enabling the option on the switches.

to be honest, i'm not 100% sure it's related. but i didn't do any other changes
it didn't seem to kill ceph or such, maybe it just retried and worked

Now that you mention it, I've checked, and the status has changed, just like yours

I am glad I canceled my pre-order after what you guys are going through. I wish they would taken care of the pre-orders before selling on Amazon/Aliexpress etc. They should of put the pre-orders first

Nice! I emailed him about making a custom one and he said he already made one for someone else and if it worked good he would be selling it. So you were the guy :p

Do you mind taking some pictures of the finished product? How are the thermals etc

I'm having some horrible heat issues. I'm not sure what I should change. My cpu is some times hovering at 82-85C. Did anyone else run into this?
As I noted in an earlier post, these Minis Forum designs (especially the MS-01) are based on certain limitations on power, flexibility and size.

You put in a PCIe card that has to draw large current from the VRM's on the planar, they will generate more internal heat.

If you push the P cores hard, that Alder Lake revision will generate heat and pull more power.

If you stick your MS-01 in some corner or some enclosed rack with limited airflow, you *will* shorten its lifespan.

If you are using both SFP ports, both 2.5 ports and you are using the USB4 ports, regularly or with large amounts (like hours) of high data transfer, it will run very hot and you should have it in a area of reasonable air flow.

The more installed options you employ, the more air flow that MS-01 is going to need.
