Hi,

Does anyone know whether the Intel FUP4X35HSDK will fit in the top 3 drive bays of the P4000 case.. An extra 4 drives would be nice and it would very nice if they matched in look..

Thanks!
I haven't seen a FUP4X35HSDK, but it takes the same space as FUP8X25HSDKS whcih I have two of, and they will *not* fix in the 2x5.25" bays...

The only drive cage from Intel designed for the P4000's 2x5.25 bays is the FUP8X25HSDKO (which I also have 2 of), and that was only listed as compatible with the P4000L chassis, though nothing is stopped me from using in in the P4000M...:
Intel FUP8X25HSDKO Spare 8x2.5 Hot-Swap Drive Cage Kit for 5.25" Cage Area New (they accepted $40 offers - hell of a deal for an 8x2.5" HSBP drive cage that's designed to fit into 2x5.24" bays; they only have 1 left)

Each of my P4000M's are currently config'd with (1) FUP8X35HSDK and (1) FUP8X25HSDKO.

Then my R2000 has 12x3.5 HSBP drive cage, with 2x2.5 internal SSD's (mounted to the air duct). I bought that one primarily for the 12x3.5 bays...

hello guys

i decide to buy two E5-2670 from this seller for US $62.00
i cannot buy from NewEgg, because i am not resident of USA (but i can buy from amazon and ebay)

SUPERMICRO MBD-X9DR3-F-O SSI EEB Server Motherboard Dual LGA 2011 DDR3 1600 - Newegg.com
SUPERMICRO MBD-X9DRD-IF-O Server Motherboard - Newegg.com

what motherboards suggest me guys? maybe asrock or other brand?
SUPERMICRO MBD-X9DR3-F-O SSI EEB has 16 memory memory slots and the other SM board has 8.

I recall seeing Natex is willing to ship internationally:
Motherboard/CPU/Memory Bundles for sale

Another potential MB:
Intel® Server Board S2600CP Family

...SM 2U chassis with X9DRI-LN4F(+) motherboards ...

... Samsung M393B1K70DHo-YH9, Kingston AM472D3LD4P13C9EC and Hynix HMT31GR7EFR4C-PB. Just looking for a good deal on the SM/Intel compatible RAM, don't care from where.
I purchased 128GB of RAM From natex.us that Nunya or whatever odd brand was. Works like a champ. all 128GB fired up without a problem on an X9 supermicro motherboard.
FYI: Although it's not as well known (or popular), Nanya has at least been around [actually, at least since 1996] since the era of Intel P4 CPUs as I have a stick or two of either DDR or PC-133. Did a quick search and found that Nanya has "strategic alliances ... [with] ... IBM, Infineion, Qimonda, and Micron Technology." An interesting find to say the least.

@JayG30, you should be safe. But if it's not clear, the manual of your selected motherboard will be the final authority on the matter. Quick observation that most server class hardware supporting Xeon 5500/5600 series up through E5-2600 v1 & v2 series CPUs appear to support/use ECC DDR3 RAM RDIMM (registered DIMM).

Darn!! I waited too long to get one/two of the FUP8X25HSDKO. Now they are gone

Has anyone purchased the Intel R2312GZ4GS9 V2 servers from OEMXS? Did they take the same price as the others that weren't listed as V2? As someone mentioned they seem to be the same exact servers but listed for $300 more.

If I recall correctly the discussion that you refer to was focused on the systems with the S2600GL board (what I paid $300 for), not the higher RAM capacity S2600GZ boards.

Why dontcha make an offer and left us know how you make out? Don't hesitate to respond with counter offers, as long as you are moving in an upward direction? I'd start with a $300 offer, if they counter with something like $600+, re-counter with $350? I wager that they'd accept on $400..., but I don't know if I'd pay that much myself.

I must say i`m really amazed by kalleyomalley.
Ordered on April 6 and received the parcel today - in Germany.

This is by by far the fastest Shipping i`ve seen from the U.S., one of the lowest price for a 2U - Unit seen so far, plus the Unit is brand-new.

Also, somehow it was declared right, shipping-service collected fees (only custom-duties , not import VAT) instead of dropping me a note that it`s ready for pickup at local customs office.

In total, a great deal with an outstanding service !

The only problem I found on those intel servers and cages was that they were only SATA I/II speeds capping out at 3gbps speeds not the 6gbps that other drive cages had.

Unless I'm way off the mark that's all I see these Intel servers having I wouldn't bother using the custom cages with any modern HD.

Wow, that's more professional than some of the actual import services I've dealt with.

Looks like Urbanmining/NATEX got additional stock. No pricing on the email but just asked if I was interested.

Yes I had, there is a chip difference between the two variants of the SAS2308, the PCIe gen2 which is what the LSI 9205-8e card was, and the PCIe gen3 which is what the LSI 9207-8i is. You will hit an error attempting to flash 9207-8i to these. No biggie, just flash with 9205-8e. But I am going to chase down with OEM XS to see if they *do* have the D1 steppings (pcie gen3) whcih should crossflash with 9207-8i.

Do these retain their lock after crossflashing? Yes, there are some posts on this forum from back in 2012 where a couple of people found that to be true.
Ordered couple of these today and sent a note to make sure they ship the sku with updated stepping chip. Will report back

So I just checked again. They are selling both the;
Intel R2312GZ4GS9, V2 Tech - S2600GZ4 board (24DIMM), no rack rails
Intel R2312GL4GS, V2 Tech - S2600GL4 board (16DIMM), with rack rails
Both listed at $1,200.

The 1st w/ the GZ board should obviously cost a bit more then the original ones that were discussed in this thread since it supports more RAM.

The 2nd w/ the GS board are the exact same as the sold out listing for $900 (purchased at $300), but listed as V2. They have a newer manufacturing date (2014 vs 2012) so therefore probably come with the updated BIOS already installed for E5-2600v2 support. Obviously doesn't make a lot of sense to pay more for the same thing (ok maybe a few bucks if you don't feel like updating the BIOS yourself). Thus why I'm curious if anyone purchased these for the same $300 price now that the other listing sold out.

All the HSBP drive cages that have been discussed thus far (the 8x3.5" and 8x2.5" for the P4000's) have been SAS/SATA3 6gbs. Dunno where you were finding otherwise. :(

Before they posted the version we all bought, they only had the V2 version. After a little back and forth my last offer to them was $450 and they declined it. That was several weeks ago so maybe it's changed since then.

jwegman, can I ask why you want a PCIe 3.0 RAID card? Curious what you are hooking it to that you'll need the 3.0.

I wonder if they realize the difference is trivial...

I just wanted it 'Cause it was cheap' and I wanted to play with it - no other reason :)

...after some back and forth with OEM XS/kalleyomalley, it was determined that they do *not* have the D1 (pcie gen3) stepping variant in inventory. They thought it was just a firmware revision and not a hardware revision... They offered to refund (as they should), however I opted to keep the cards as I *will* certainly use one of them in the R2000 along with the RMS25JB080 mezzanine card. I may even buy a few more to replace the (4) RS2WC080's I have in the P4000's. Those RS2WC080 are *not* bios locked to Intel hardware, so they may sit on a shelf for a while, or I may sell them off... who knows...

They took the listing down for the NIB may be to update the description. When I ordered, they had like ~600 in stock
Mine are marked as shipped with tracking #
