Hi team, anyone can share the latest (last??) HP Q6Q68A LTO-8 SAS Drive Firmware?
More specifically "LTO_30750_SAS_P381_MSL.frm"
Thanks!

PS: This is a good reason to move away from HPE to others like IBM => HPE paywalls firmware while others remain open

Hello, sir,This is a link I got from Reddit.stoneset.It contains the files you need.
By the way, do you have firmware similar to LTT_Ultrium_6-SCSI_35PW_STANDALONE.frm? I can't find it; it seems the standalone version can't be flashed with tape library firmware.

You can just use the latest "standalone" version of the firmware for LTO6 drives:
Code:
LTT_Ultrium_6-SCSI_O5ID_STANDALONE.frm
HPE drives verify the checksum and integrity of the firmware and will not allow you to flash a firmware that is not compatible with the drive (like you said - library firmware won't go to standalone drive).

Saying this as I am pretty sure the libraries have different versioning than the standalone drives, so there is no "35PW" for standalone HPE LTO6. At least not in the archives I've seen so far.

Thanks. I was a bit lucky and got the latest "S2T1" firmware for my LTO-8 SAS drive from a forum here

Looks like people there might have access to the latest HP firmware downloads so you might try your luck, but it is in Russian so....

Its "legit" as far as people have used FW from there and they work. So should be fine. I ditched the idea to get HPE due to FW issues, but when I searched that was the "source" to pretty much all other FW across Reddit and here. I wasn't sure how fine is to share the links as the forum "offers" questionable files (HPE proprietary) but I guess its fine at the end.

Totally agree. It is also how crazy the world has become: you paid for the hardware, but you also need to pay for the firmware / software or otherwise you have no other choices.

I miss all those "good old days" when life was simple.

btw as @potrebitel mentioned, check your part number. If you are with the full-height SKU then "O5ID" is indeed the latest version mentioned by HPE here
Oops—it seems I misunderstood the difference between the tape library and standalone versions of the firmware. The good news is that the half-height drive works as well. The firmware file I used is named `LTT_Ultrium_6-SCSI_O5ID_STANDALONE.frm`.
