if BMC FW does not match this can happen too,I've never had this work on 2 different sets of Supermicro boards. Inventory never updates

Dump BIOS in BMC web GUI doesn't work. this is what I get while trying to update BIOS. I was able to update BMC firmware to the latest verison.will try downgrading now.if BMC FW does not match this can happen too,
I flashed the ch341a programmer without soldering. the flash_R.rom part

I will try with ch341 once my SOP16 clip arrives, I wanted to try it without one as it seems safer and I don't have the correct clip right now.
right: will be updates by BIOS at next successful POST.BMC is not even showing BIOS version now, I think that happened after BIOS update
and you have 16mb BIOS chip ?. flash with ch341a should solve.Sorry, should have said BMC update. not BIOS as this is what I'm getting while trying to update BIOS. View attachment 35803
Yes, I have 16MB bios chip because mine is rev1.1and you have 16mb BIOS chip ?. flash with ch341a should solve.
just want to be sure.Yes, I have 16MB bios chip because mine is rev1.1
I think I was wrong, mine seems to have 8 pin chip. I assumed that mine had 16 one because other users said do. I think it's also 128MB chip? I looked up datasheet MX25L12873Fjust want to be sure.
have see this error with gigabyte MC12 and original BIOS.
supermicro uses 256mbit 32MB SOP8 chips. you need SOP16 for 512mbit (64MB)I think I was wrong, mine seems to have 8 pin chip. I assumed that mine had 16 one because other users said do.
my instrucitons ?I did make .bin following your instructions.

just use the Flash_R.bin in the BIOS zip package for ch341aI did make .bin following your instructions.
I will use Flash_R.rom from the older AGESA version BIOS package I got.just use the Flash_R.bin in the package for ch341a
corrupt file, not a valid BIOS.
I'm sorry, I guess I will remove this file so others don't try flashing it.corrupt file, not a valid BIOS.
it is not usual you can write BIOS chips in circuit. some/many can, some not.I managed to connect ch341 to the sop8 chip which is supposed to be bios chip and something seems to be not working as i cant write to it. maybe not making good contact or something on the board stopping it from writing. I was able to read from it. cant verify or write
or the chip is defective and produces the error in the BMC ?I was able to read from it. cant verify or write
I am not entirely sure, I tried dump bios function from the BMC GUI which I guess is supposed to download current BIOS but it never worked. I was never able to flash the BIOS and at some point, I think after updating BMC it was unable to detect BIOS firmware version. BMC LED lights up after I plug in ch341, this board also has BIOS recovery functional and u can switch it on by using jumpers, maybe I will give that a try.or the chip is defective and produces the error in the BMC ?
