Thanks but there seems to be some sort of incompatibility.
I have two identical sticks. Any one only stick, only posts if on B1. That ruled out a faulty stick.
When using both sticks, one stick on each slot A1 & B1 (and sticks swapped but same slots), or A0 & B0, fails to post.
I can only post with two sticks if using A0 & B1 which I imagine are two halves of different channels. But the worse part of it is that the inventory still only recognises one, the one on B1. Any ideas?

p.s. I'm on BMC Firmware 12.61.21 and bios F15
Are you even able to boot into the system and do some stress tests? If everything else works than it could be damage memory channel (either paths on mobo, or cpu controller)

What memory and cpu are you using?

I can boot with any one of the two sticks, yes. I could put a live usb, download a stress utility and run it .
Again thanks for the ideas but would a damaged memory channel show only when two sticks used?

Memory: these_ones "NEMIX RAM 16GB Replacement for Samsung M391A2K43BB1-CTD DDR4-2666 ECC UDIMM 2Rx8". I bought two sticks of 16 GB each.
CPU: Ryzen 7 5700X

ok but I fail to see how it can be (not challenging it, just trying to follow the logic).
CPU fault can make see only see any one of two sticks at the time.
Same for the board.
Is that something you're sure of?
if all RAM sticks work in B1(alone) can't be the RAM,
except some strange reason i can't imagen now.
what RAM is it again ?

One channel might be working, second one can be broken.

can you check if pins of the Ryzen are missing ? (Amazon return)

Does anyone know how to enable predefined xmp profiles for memory?
I only found the page where you have to enter all the values / voltages manually and would prefer to avoid that.
Thanks

You would need to set the voltage to the XMP voltage on your sticks. I have seen an option to choose mem freq but didn't see where to adjust the RAM voltage, I am sure its in there somewhere tho! But you would need to adjust the voltage first. There is no XMP one click option as far as I could see.

the BIOS chip is connencted to the AM4 socket. the BMC can only access the BIOS chip if CPU is powered and the secure-chip inthe IODIE is working, this needs memory. i can't check if this works with not supported CPU.
also note in cold boot the machine needs 2 minutes and more to come up, black screen before.
if you are loc. in EU i can borrow you a Ryzen 3 3100.
I missed this, apologies. I am in the UK, so not far but thanks to some changes I did not vote for, things are trickier between states. Not impossible though but thanks. I'm doing more tests and I think the CPU change I'm putting to after if needed. I returned the brand new (not refurb) today as the BIOS and the BMC are up to date now.
Right now dealing with this no boot with two mem sticks madness for the moment. I ordered a new pair from the QVL now to see if that makes a difference. This was supposed to be a low-cost setup :(

If you would not be from UK I could send your entire working package (CPU+mobo+ram), but it is tricky sending it to UK as far as I am aware...

(I have 3 sets of 5900+mobo)

Let us know after changes your are going to make

Thanks. I am going to start contacting the seller to inform. It might be a faulty board.
I have in another room a record of last night's tests, made only with the current kit. I have no spares of cpu or memory so just moving them around.
Unfortunately for CPU, thinking I was making progress I cancelled the new one. Last night trying to re-order it, went sold out.
I purchased the replacement memory though, but will not be delivered until Monday most likely.

I am back to a well known problem, now i need even more boards and back to waiting for price to drop down again.

Ran across some 3950x new in box with full warranty etc for just over 200€ and it was just too tempting.

I'm now up and running, thanks for the hints. It was the memory that was defective. It was two new sticks but memtest showed errors straight away. I replaced them with two of KSM32ES8/16HC for a total of 32 Gb on Slot A1 and B1 after a successful memtest and is all good. Thanks

I just updated bios to 15 from UEFI shell, did not experience secure boot issues related to default keys, may be they fixed it.
no, BIOS is not changed. if you have enrolled the keys before, they should be retain.
there may be a difference in flashing by BMC or EFI thought.
