Power consumption from the wall socket. You need some power meter to check.
This PC unit has unexpectedly high consumption. Mine consume 10-11 W idle and similar config but different manufacturer require 6W only.
luckily i have a smart plug with power meter, I will try that and report back.

Wow, it is really good.
My unit consume around 10W and temperature ~40C.

Really big difference for both temperature and power consumption.

Could you share picture of case. The temperatures are really low so I'm wondering how it's possible. Do you have any fan attached?

To all members of this thread:
Could you share your method of energy saving for your board?

it is literally just sitting on my work bench with no fan.

Hello!
My box PCB ver1.2 with v1.4 BIOS
Does anyone have an updated BIOS version for this hardware?

I just received my system today, bought from Topton on AliEx. BKHD-1264NP-12-4L version 1.1 - exactly the same "tall fins version" as the system at the link previously posted here: N100 2.5G nano itx

IMG_0844.jpeg

Unfortunately the system is bricked - no display, no beeps, no boot (tried with Proxmox installer, GParted Live, UEFI shell bootable USB) - all the USB sticks boot on my other Topton i5-1235U system.

A programmer is on the way and I've written to Topton to see if they can send a copy of the original bios. I haven't noticed anyone else talking about v1.1, so I'm hesitant to try any of the files posted here. Anyone know of a version that's supposed to work with this specific revision?

Did you wait long enough after RAM replacement. This unit have huge delay after new RAM implementation. Even 2 minutes

Ok, write to Topton then. People on forum wrote that they got bin file from Topton when they requested

Still waiting for Topton to reply again - looks like they only reply once per day. (UPDATE: July 26 2024: write to BKHD directly via their web site if you have issues - Topton don't seem to be of much use, being just a reseller)

In the meantime, received the programmer and I have the board up with a display and posting. Had to use a BIOS I knew wasn't correct (from CWWK), so NVME isn't recognized right now. Tried one of the posted 1.4 and 1.5 files from the thread and those wouldn't show a display or post/boot.

At least now, until I get a no-boot again, I can flash from the EFI shell.

been running this board v1.2 and bios v1.4 with OPNsense for months without issue but temp is very high

Code:
root@OPNsense:~ # sysctl -a | grep temperature
hw.acpi.thermal.tz0.temperature: 27.9C
dev.cpu.3.temperature: 77.0C
dev.cpu.2.temperature: 76.0C
dev.cpu.1.temperature: 75.0C
dev.cpu.0.temperature: 75.0C
any recommendation ?

Put a 120 or 140mm fan on top of the case, blowing down.

My system is back up and working as expected, thanks to a firmware provided by BKHD directly. With a fan on top I can keep the CPU under 40

There were a bunch of the older units (from cwwk at least) discussed in the forum where the cpu and case were too far apart and had a big blob of cheap thermal paste trying to bridge the gap.

Some people add a copper shim (with thin paste both sides). A couple of people filed a tiny amount off of the standoffs to move the cpu and board closer to the case.

If you search for "cpu shim" or "cpu gap" you should find the discussions and feedback.

what i forgot to say is about my system is also almost idle <5% load

anyway, i have putted an older 2x50 fan usb on top of them and temp is 20° down

Code:
# sysctl -a | grep temperature
hw.acpi.thermal.tz0.temperature: 27.9C
dev.cpu.3.temperature: 59.0C
dev.cpu.2.temperature: 58.0C
dev.cpu.1.temperature: 56.0C
dev.cpu.0.temperature: 56.0C
i have already removed the copper which fill the gap from case and cpu (mine is in alluminium) and replaced the thermal paste
not sure if a better copper should help as the shield is very hot and almost impossibile to touch
I guess something is wrong on my board (bios?) or the fan less system is just not enough

now is ugly but temp is much better

thanks all

I still don't know what the system does nor where it stores additional information when this happens, but once it's done, the system seems to work normally on future reboots and cold boots. Very fast actually, some distros take only about 10 seconds to boot. If it's on the correct firmware of course.
