keep your fingers away form BCLK. the PCIe clock is also rising and disables your GPU from one point.
you don't need this for RAM OC. you can set RAM clock manualy. best is if you have RDIMMs with XMP profile, there is a setting to enable them.
make no sense to change setting with no knowlage in the wild.
Yes but I was able to hit 110 bclck with old cpu. My graphics card was working fine and I got 10% bump on performance which is significant.

Now I cannot even get 104. Something is funky and I don't think it is due to pcie

Right now I am playing around. I wonder if cpu is hitting a bottleneck at 4.2gHZ as voltage being low. At 104 bclk cpuz causes windows to crash. It is not very unstable.

Memory overclocking is simple, I have very basic ddr5 4800 memory and I overclocked it to close to 6000mHz

Edit: Be forewarned. Do not attempt to overclock ES cpus as you may damage the cpu. I am also playing around as this is fun for me, not meant as a goal or expectation. This cpu is great and so far had no issues but it is an ES chip.

silicon lottery...note there may accelerators inside which are PCI devices and don't like that.
maybe 4ghz is the max. what your CPU can go. have you got 4200mhz with your old CPU ? or just +10% ?
ALL OC settings beside Memory clock are intended for SPR-WS unlocked Xeon Ws.
don't expect any of them work similar with your ES.

Q03J is stepping E0 cpuid 806F4, E steppings share same miicrocode and work on any most C741 board so far. can be changed with future BIOS updates.

Guys I'm a little confused about CPU'S ES.
There are two models on socket 4677
1- w9-3495X
2- Platinum 8490H ES
I realized that these two processors can work on a motherboard
WS W790E-SAGE SE
If I misunderstood something, correct me

Platinum 8490H ES depends on the revision. D0 is the one that works. It starts with QY.
The problem is when I search on ebay 8490H ES 60/120
sellers write in the description ( 8490H ES Q03J 60C 120T )
when I look at the screenshot and there is a completely different CPU with 56 cores
and CPU'S with 60 cores have a frequency of 1.6 GHz,so I'm a little confused:oops:

ASUS W790 supports SPR-WS Xeon W
and (by accident ?) ES2 stepping D0 like QYFS,QYFX, they are hermaphrodites

Does this mean we can make it work on ASUS WS 790 as well, although it is an EO stepping?

Based on your experience, what motherboard buy to use 8490H ES Q03J
depends on your usecase. as is stated before, can run on any most chipset C741 based motherboard.
(not asrock)
Gigabytes have best compatibility so far, still supporting ES stepping D0,E0 and up with latest BIOS (already with 5th gen support)
Supermicro's are cheapest you can buy, but i guess they remove E0 support some day as they have done with D0.

Now I have a big headache, I don't know which motherboard to choose
I have a good offer to buy a cpu ( 8490H ES ) for $537

That doesn't seem very cheap in comparison to other CPUs. Not sure if extra 4 cores worth that much. I got 56 core cpus under $300.

This is a thread for WS 790 so my suggestion would be WS 790 and buying a D0 chip. Server motherboards don't hold their value well and they are less suitable to be a workstation.

My plan is to use my WS 790 with ES chips and then get a overclockable one once they become affordable, probably in 5 years. I wish intel releases Emerald rapid workstation cpus as well so board can be used several more years. This chance of being able to use es chips/server xeon chips with workstation motherboards may not happen again.

I absolutely agree with you 100%, four cores is not so much considering the performance of this level of cpu, in my opinion 56 core is great
my hesitation is
Platinum 8480+ ES 4th Gen
Platinum 8490H ES 5th Gen
