I am trying to get sas3ircu working on VMWare ESXi 8.0U1a to monitor raid1 boot volume health.
I have tried basically all of the VIB files I could find, none of them install due to the missing checksum:
$ esxcli software vib install -v /vmfs/volumes/datastore1/sas3/vmware-esx-sas3ircu.vib...
I've decided to make the jump from HDDs to SSDs for my main storage and now i'm wondering if I needed to buy the backplane that bought. I have a supermicro CSE-846 24 bay case and it had the BPN-SAS2-846EL1 backplane. Right now I'm using 20 3tb spinning rust sas drives but I have bought 20 2tb...
Interested to see if anyone has one of these chassis available w/ the following:
All 24 drive trays
Would be looking to get it shipped or within reasonable drive for local pickup of 60502.
I hope this is the right forum to ask this question, I'm not sure.
I am in the process of buying a CSE-846 chassis w/ drive trays only and BPN-SAS2-846EL1 backplane for $300.
I am potentially interested in upgrading the backplane to BPN-SAS3-846EL1 for the right price as the seller can pull...
here's the question, and maybe it's obvious to some of you.
i've got a 2U SuperMicro server with their SAS3 expander built-in. i installed an old stinky H11SSW-iN from ebay on it. (if you sold it to me, thanks!). no matter how I connect the cables, the motherboard (running a stinky old 7551P)...

selling a Samsung PM1643 1.92TB SAS3
The SSD has not even 17 power on hours and 1.69TB written.
Cause for the writes was a reformat to 4k sectors (the drive's native) from the shipped 512e
Otherwise the SSD has not seen any real operations; the SSD was bought as a read cache for a...
After years of no issues I decided to check for a firmware upgrade and stumbled upon: Version: 24.12.0-0039 , 09/01/2017 and figured hey it's a recent one.
Went over here: IBM Support and downloaded the .exe
Ran the .exe and selected 'update';
two minutes after pressing update it...
I have a bunch of consumer SATA disks but I need more space and I'm looking at enterprise disks. The price premium to go enterprise isn't that much at the larger sizes.
I have a Supermicro SC847 with SAS3 backplanes. My HBA is an m1015 but I plan to upgrade to an SAS3 HBA at some point. My...
I'm migrating my NAS from a Rosewill RSV-L4500 to a Supermicro 847BE1C chassis. This is the one I will use:
I will reuse the the cpu, memory, SAS HBA, and disks from the current system.
Motherboard: Supermicro X10SLH-F
HBA: IBM M1015
Can anyone direct me to a port map for this? I am interested in specifically which "inputs" map to which "outputs".
Its been frustrating.. I have been unable to find any relevant documentation on either the board or the expander chip it uses. What documentation that is available engages in...
