This NeweEgg post is Redacted... It is not recommended to buy from NewEgg.

(Couldn't figure out how to strike-through on mobile; so, I've made it a spoiler)

Looks like Newegg dropped the price as well.

$175 new, with warranty.

But not sold by newegg so probably some more marketplace shadiness. :(

Yeah, the Marketplace seller listing these on Newegg has a 77% feedback rating. Looking at Feedback, comment on top is, "I ordered two new hard drives. After install, I found that the drives were actually used drives with over 38,000 hours of usage in them." o_O

I could not agree more! I've since redacted my post above (but left for posterity).

I dropped the ball on this one and didn't do my homework before posting (Mr. Mom today, mobile, kids, etc).

This is why I enjoy STH forums as there are other research-before-buying and what-has-been-posted members out there following up, just like me. But, if someone is wrong, it is always a gentle correction - zero bashing here (and the ones I have reported were quietly taken care of).

The seller has some at 99 and some at 125. What is the difference? just the number of hours?

also what is this 4kn /ISE controller?

It was just a simple feedback check. And honestly, I have a hard time remembering that I have to check the SELLER and their feedback on Newegg now, so I bet a lot of other people do too. Folks like me, who've been buying from Newegg for over a decade, have gotten used to assuming Newegg is the seller. I'm still not used to treating them with the same caution I show with Ebay.

Seems to me that since they added the Marketplace, Newegg sure doesn't seem to monitor things or discipline shady sellers. .And you can't just send the scam stuff back to Newegg to deal with like you can often hand Amazon Marketplace stuff back to Amazon to deal with.

If you have a problem with a Newegg seller you are completely on your own. Newegg won't do squat to help you. This is why I haven't bought from Newegg in years. They are less than honest.

Got my tracking number even he was supposedly on vacation. Hopefully it will get dropped off at fedex soon.

You got any suggestion for a cheap $20 or less 8 port sas controller that will recognize these 10TB+ or bigger drives? I tried adaptec 52445 and 6805T and seems no go even with latest firmware

Yeah, it's just like Amazon Marketplace sellers, except it sounds like there's less buyer protection... I still buy from Newegg every now and then, but only "sold by Newegg" with rare exceptions (DJI official store comes to mind).

I would buy from Newegg but they haven't been the cheapest on anything in a long time. Besides, Amazon and eBay are less of a risk.

The one that i have in another system that seems to work appears to be a Dell H310 or H200 flashed with IT firmware. it's based on the LSI 2008

you can get one for pretty close to $20-30. Maybe it was cheaper when i got one back in 2018?

I have several 310's but never seen one as low as $30. Guess some are lucky and some are not. :p

Adaptec ASR-7805
$15 each BO + shipping
I got 8 cards at $12 each = $96 + $18 shipping ( for 8 cards ) = $13.5 each
