BTW my motherboard and cpu are from aliexpress
Also looking to get a MZ32-AR0 off Aliexpress.

Can you please mention/PM me the exact item you got?
Don't want to order a board that can't be flashed to Rev 3.0 and sellers aren't much helpful so far.

I flashed the bios from a Linux/GNU shell (ipmi would hang). It says it was successful but not sure. Bios version and date dont seem to match anything on gigabytes website.

*** on further inspection date matches latest rev3 bios (M23_R40) zip contents.
So I have been running rev1 with rev3 bios for 2 months with no problems. I don't have a 7003 family cpu to test though.
I would say give it a shot. It didn't brick my board.**

I'm hoping someone can bail me out here. I've been banging my head on a wall trying to figure out what's going on. I purchased an MZ32-AR0 from tugm on ebay. He forgot to flash a 7003 compatible BIOS (R18). He sent a BIOS to flash (r28_f04). Pretty sure it's not Milan, but I tried endlessly flash the RBU file on there with the previous BMC version (12.41.XX) I read through the forum here and most agree that the BMC should be updated first, so I did that. It's now running on 12.61.35. But the previous BIOS is now completely gone, and I haven't been able to successfully install any BIOS whatsoever.. The RBU file uploads, there's a slow % indicator of the flash, it says it's complete, then appears to reboot. But the BIOS is not there. BTW, I'm doing this with no CPU or DRAM installed.

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong here?

In order for the bios to finish updating, you need it to fully boot. So break out the CPU and Ram and get to it. The BIOS update process was slow as hell and after installing the CPU and Ram and getting that bad boy going, the first boot is going to be a long first boot. I don't know why, but it just is.

Thanks for the tips. But I don't think there is a BIOS installed? Check out the screen cap of the firmware info screen.

Even without the cpu and ram, this should show the bios info in there, right?

I may be wrong but it may not populate unless there is a successful boot

BIOS ver was cleared by BMC update.
BIOS info is updated by next POST by BIOS/CPU
if you have Rome CPU you will see BIOS Rxx
if you have Milan CPU you will see BIOS Mxx
the 32mb BIOS contains two BIOS, 16mb Rome, 16mb Milan

Ok, so I loaded the milan.rbu that Rollo put on here a while back. I'm using 16GB DDR4-3200 ECC 2RX8 Samsung. I've tested this before with no special BIOS configurations and it booted on another MZ32-AR0 with no issues. Could it be a problem that these are 3200s?

no if its RDIMM it should work.
I purchased an MZ32-AR0 from tugm on ebay. He forgot to flash a 7003 compatible BIOS (R18). He sent a BIOS to flash (r28_f04).
BIOS R18 is Rome BIOS
r28_f04 is Rome,Naples BIOS. no Milan support.
F = Naples
R = Rome
M = Milan
there are cases the MZ32-AR0 comes with special BMC FW and needs special BIOS, ask seller.

Thanks, for the clarification. Yes, this is RDIMM, but it's Micron, not Samsung. MTA18ASF2G72PDZ. Ok, so how long is LONG....I set up my first MZ32 with 512Gb of RAM and it didn't take more than 10 minutes to boot the first time. Maybe I need to turn the Host back on after installing the BIOS?

Thanks guys.

mmh. i am pretty sure it is 32mb because tugm sent a dual BIOS.
try this BIOS if you have 7003 cpu
edit: one RDIMM in C1
Thanks @RolloZ170 . Unfortunately, no joy with M07_R26. I will have to get a cheap test CPU and other memory to troubleshoot this. Admittedly, this is an ES version of the early Milan. So it could be the CPU. I doubt it's the memory but just in case...

What's your opinion on the board being a problem? I've got a BMC that runs...or is there a chance that there is a board issue?

Thanks again!
