Guess it's a BIOS bifurcation of these lanes (do they come from PCH?), which could not be done on Gen4 CPU lanes.
Now given that MS-01 to date is still questionable in terms of longterm stability (and worse than any Intel NUC to date i had) adding this passive expander looks to me... yes confusing as i said earlier, at least.
+lack of proper cooling but guess 3d printing enthusiasts will come quickly with ugly yet functional solution.
I've yet to see any stability issues on mine (1xi9-12900H, 3xi5-12600H) all running prox with the newest microcode (0x433) and 1.22 BIOS, mine are not particularly heavily loaded though. It would be interesting to see if specific models/microcode/BIOS combos have more/less stability issues.

Well i told myself that after first issue i will get rid of it. And i did after month in favor of NUC. Had i9 flavour running Debian and it just rebooted during heavy network usage over one of X710s.

I just received a new MS-01, the old one had frequent crashes, likely due to a bad power supply on the PCB. It seems to have a new BIOS. The option to enable ASPM for the X710 is no longer available / is greyed out:

Is that due to the new BIOS or am I missing something?

Which BIOS version do you have ?

On my MS-01, is this function also greyed out.
I think it is the standard-option on every MS-01

Hi guys, sorry for silly question ….does this card fit on pci-e slot? Thanks for your time

Too high and a little too long too.

MD2 Low-Profile Card Dimensions
MD2 defines the maximum length of a low profile PCI card as 167.64 mm (6.600 inches) and a maximum height of 64.41 mm (2.536 inches) including the edge connector. Any low-profile PCI card longer than the MD1 length is considered an MD2 card. MD2 is the most common low-profile card form-factor. Besides standard PCI, many PCI Express cards are often described as MD2 low-profile form-factor.

I have the Nvdia RTX A2000 (RTX A2000 Single Slot Cooler) installed on the MS-01, however networking stops working (RJ45 and SFP+).
When the Nvidia A2000 is removed, networking works fine. Thoughts what might be the culprit?

I have the 13900H version and I am wondering if Intel's stability issue is a concern here or not? Has anyone experienced any issue with their MS-01 unit that is related to this core voltage problem?

I've bought recently the 12600H version barebone and I'm super happy with it, BUT:

1) I've bought the Crucial 1x 16G 1,1v 5600 DDR5, but the bios is showing 4800 and there is no way to do something about it.
2) I've installed OPNSense and I'm having big issues with the X710 ports and IGMP and Multicast traffic (IPTV), and that doesn't make me happy. I have use 1 port from X710 for the WAN and 1 port from the i226v for the LAN, but I have more latency, than using both ports x710.

apart from that, very nice build and very good price!

The Intel 12-series CPUs only support DDR5-4800. That's just the nature of the beast unless you get an unlocked BIOS that can overclock the RAM. But doing that is not without risk.

We dont need RAM overclock but the ability to change timmings... if a memory is made for 5600mhz then in 4800 it can play with tighter timmings. Latency is more crucial than bandwidth.. we mainly all use our MS-01 with hypervisors.

I've been running two MS-01s with the I9-13900H CPUs and 96GB of RAM with ESXi 8 for a couple of months now without any issues until today when one pink-screened. I had the two overrides to allow leaving the efficiency CPUs enabled but the crash was due to "Fatal CPU mismatch" on "Hyperthreads per cord", "Cores per package", "Intel performance monitoring capabilities", "Cores per die", and "Cores per tile". I've now disabled the efficiency CPUs on the one that crashed and will see what happens.

Fair play to that - in fact that was exactly what I meant by "overclock the RAM". And I agree completely that if the ram is made for 5600 then the ram can handle tighter timings when running at 4800. Whether or not the ram controller built into the 12gen CPU can also handle it is somewhat up the silicon quality lottery. YMMV.

Of course its all moot unless/until Minisforum releases a BIOS that allows manipulating the timing :)

I own 13900H version, is it possible for anyone to share beta bios 1.23? Maybe it has newer microcode and some other improvements...
EDITED:
I own 13900H version, is it possible for anyone to share BIOS AHWSA.1.23 04/12/2024? Maybe it has MCU 0x411C (newer than MCU 0x410C in BIOS AHWSA.1.22 03/12/2024 ) and some other improvements...

I've got Samsung U.2 pm9a3 with 2x samsung M.2 pm983 drives. The problem is that two M.2 drives are running hot 74C on idle. After trying out mini-heatsink suggested by sidplayos2's post (link) using thermal pads it dropped to 68C. But it's still too hot for my taste.

I want to try the fan mod from daylightroberty post (link). I already have a spare ARCTIC 120mm PWM fan. but I want to use the same header as the current M.2 fan uses. Will this from aliexpress work?

This is a link to files from MinisForum for the MS-01. The link does not have a beta bios, but it does have the most current files for the MS-01. It sometimes can be a little difficult finding these files so if it helps someone good. I too am looking for an update to the V 1.22 bios file -- so microcode would help....
