Gives me bit more info, but hasn't fixed it on the main screen, unfortunately. And it looks like in that other post you linked to even with SPD not being detected it still showed ECC as enabled.

So now if I go into the SPD details for each RAM stick it says ECC: Yes and Total Width: 80, but on the main screen it still says it is not supported...

seems the non IPMI does not support ECC or the 13500 not.

Would still be curious if v10.0 shows ECC as enabled for a 13th gen CPU in the X13SAE but I already returned my board.
pls check with memtest86 v10.00 and v10.02

Tried all versions since 10.0, no luck unfortunately. I tried posting on the memtest forums to see if they have any ideas as well, appreciate the help.

Heard back from a passmark employee. Looks like the next version of memtest86, 10.5, should improve ECC checking support for this chipset, so I'll try again once that comes out.

Hi I was trying to use memtest to confirm that EEC is enabled on my new build. As the Topic title explainsm dmidecode shows ECC is enabled in the OS, but memtest shows it as disabled - why would that be, and which should be trusted? My spec is Intel i5-13500 Asus W680 Pro IPMI Kingston 32GB...

For others using Asus W680 I noticed today there is a new bios posted, version 2403

I updated and did not notice anything new in the bios

Everyone with a 13900K in this thread is okay with ASUS W680 and ECC and everyone 13700K and slower has trouble.

I think this is because of silicon lottery.

I hope that ASUS is able to fix this in the new firmware.

ECC is a demanding task for the memory controller.

For future servers I think I buy a 13900K next time but:
But if you buy a license for Windows Server 2022 with 16 Cores is it able to shut down 8 e-Cores of the 13900K?
That is the big question.
And that was the reason why I was buying a 13700K.

Same here, no issues with my one build, I believe I was the first person on the forum with this board and I really haven't had any issues.

To add on to the feedback that the Asus w680 seems to work with ECC for processors other than 13900k, I tried the new memtest86 version 10.5 as mentioned by @drampelt

Asus w680 bios 2403
i5-12600k
2x MEM-DR532MD-EU48

Everything looks ok to me. Hopefully this revision of memtest helps remove confusion whether ECC is working with DDR5 ecc.

@Leondre and @Weapon which ECC Ram are you using?

I used Kingston 32GB ECC modules.

And I had absolutely no problems with Supermicro but I had trouble with Asus W680.

I had two different 13700K.

With the Supermicro-Board I got every combination of CPU with RAM modules to run.

The Asus Board prefered one CPU and the other CPU was a disaster.

I ordered this way back in early June and it arrived last week. This will be my second-ever PC build (I'm a Mac guy). I'm tired of managing 5 external drives and hope to have a functional Unraid server by mid-September. I still must purchase memory, processor, case, HDDs, SSDs, HBA, and upgraded networking equipment. I plan to use the server to run Plex or Jellyfin and back up our Macs. I'm probably going with a Meshify 2 XL for the case, Ultrastar 20TB HDDs, and a 13600K or 13700K. I'm pretty sure I'm going to use ECC UDIMMs, but I don't know which size I'll choose.

I have two Asus Pro W680-ACE IPMI builds, one with i9-13900k, the other with i7-13700k. Both are servers that get run pretty hard. Both work well.

I do not remember what memory I used other than I selected it from the list of memory that SuperMicro lists as compatible with their W680 based X13SCA-F-O. I've always used Supermicro boards in my server builds, but, the X13SCA-F-O were a bit hard to come by when I did these, so, I took a chance on the Asus.
