doubt that. ASRock Rack usualy do not provide actual MCU on BIOS but support DCPMM.

Well, that's unfortunate. I think HP might be a similar situation. They don't have the actual downloads available for their older BIOS versions, but they still have the update announcements. Support for Pmem was added in BIOS 2.35, released Nov 2019 - given Dell 7920's 2.3.1 was Oct 2019, I don't think my odds are good there...
Speaking of which, it might be easier at this point to bite the bullet and just do a custom build... It will be easily 2x as expensive as getting a used Dell/HP though.
no, Platinum is not a 8 way grant anymore.
especialy the OEMs and customs are mostly capped down to 2way.
after 2nd gen scalable intel added a new suffix 'H' for 4/8 way SKUs.
sellers of the 8273CL suggests it is compatible with HP servers, no special BIOS required.
so it is not clear if HP needs the old microcode.
I think I asked the same seller about 6268CL and 6253CL and then they took off the part about HP servers from the descriptions. They don't seem too sure of themselves...
Cost of barebones z6 g4 + heatsink is ~$200 right now so I might still spring for it and try, though, if I give up on the Dell.
I have a feeling they are talking about older BIOS as well. Latest Z6 G4 BIOS (ver. 02.91 Rev.A, P60_0291) has 0x5003501 version of microcode...
Given this works on a supermicro X11SPA-T(F) with the right bios, do you think it will also work on Super X11DPG-OT-CPU with the same 3.0b microcde? The system page (4029GP-TRT | 4U | SuperServer | Products | Super Micro Computer, Inc.) says cascade lake needs 3.2 or above so maybe it cannot be used unless I build a moded bios. I'm okay doing that if will work but its an expensive experiment if not

Not sure if this is for some "special" type of DRAM / DCPMM modules tho, but I guess at least for Supermicro BIOS it seems can cope with these high values??i am completely clueless about this. or can be a used to make them incompatible to most nonOEM mboards.
maybe ASRock Rack ignores that parameter.

Rollo, thank you so much. Had some trouble with an X11DPH-T with the newest firmware "bundle". Followed the hints here and got past the 0x79 stall by modifying the bios with the 500001C microcode.
Hello all, I have a Supermicro X11SPA-T and was looking at possibly taking a chance on a single 8273CL for my system. Can anyone confirm if this would work at all, and if so what BIOS file I would need to get? I know nothing about modding BIOS files so hopefully just an official Supermicro BIOS file (maybe one of the older ones?) would work right off the bat if I could get it loaded. Is anyone aware if this is at all possible, and if so by chance you could point me to where I could download the necessary BIOS file. I'd appreciate it so much. You guys are amazing for being able to pick all this stuff apart. Thanks in advance for any help at all.
