Good, my USA contact has shipped my stuff. Should be getting the M40 and M6300 next week or so.

I can also reassemble the M4700 I stole it's CPU from too.

Holy SHIT UPS is on fire right now, parcel picked up the 18th, delivered today in the early afternoon!

M40: ****ed hinge :( at least it's chassis is in better condition than my personal M40! It also BSoD'ed after installing drivers on Win2k for whatever reason, which fixed itself after I updated the BIOS to A12
M6300: No CompuTrace, yay! Stole it's X9000 for my M2300 and put in a T7500 instead. I honestly have no idea what to do with two M6300's now. Both would need SSDs and chargers to be even remotely resellable. The one I bought in the USA has the FX 3600M though!
3940XM: M4700 reassembled with said CPU and it's working as it should.
M4600 IO board: still needs doing, I am done wrenching for tonight.

One freshly repaired M4600 later:

Need to reinstall Win7 though, as it doesn't want to update correctly :(

And indeed, the IO board was broken. The USB ports on the left are now working correctly once again.

What the **** is wrong with people? Offering $360 for a M6700 Covet in bad condition with a cracked E2E glass?

Idiot me managed to nuke the Windows install of his M2400 by overclocking and installing updates at the same time lmfao, at least the X9100 I recieved is working.

HELL YES, FINALLY FOUND A T7600G! This one also doesn't have a cracked die unlike the one I bought last year. Untested though, but I have great confidence that it's working.

Gonna be real interesting to see how much faster the T7600G at 3 something GHz compared to the 2.33 GHz T7600.

I'm unironically contemplating putting up some of my Precision collection for sale. I could use the money and space is increasingly becoming a issue.

Problem being: what models do I get rid of? The M4600 and M4700 are good canidates because I use those the least.

SON OF A ****ING BITCH

A M6800 COVET! And in my country no less!

In other news, I have sold the M6300 I bought in America last October. Remarkably quick too, less than a day. Almost got back what I paid for it lol

YES! IT'S MINE NOW!

Paid €300 including shipping and told the seller he keep the SSD as I have enough of those. Man, can't believe I found a M6800CE, and in The Netherlands no less!

Now all that remains to complete the collection are the M2800, M3800 and M4800, which i'm sort of on the lookout for. Finding a M3800 or M4800 with the 4K screen isn't easy though.

Fun fact I found out: the seller of that M6800 is also the same guy I bought my ThinkPad P50 from in 2018. Talk about coincidence lmao

M6800 has been shipped at last. Can't wait! Finding a K5100M for it isn't going to be easy though :(

M6800 received. Wow, what a machine. Could use some love in the form of new chassis parts though.

Which I promptly ordered :^) new palmrest, keyboard, complete upper lid ordered. Paid more than what I paid for the entire Precision but **** it, I want a factory new M6800 Covet for my collection. That new lid also allows me to check if the M6800 Covet lid fits on the M6700!

Next month or so, i'll also order a 4940MX.

Yeah this is definitely going to be a long term project, thing's gonna need a new motherboard too at some point. Stupid thing doesn't want to detect 16GB RAM with the i7-4610M. The keyboard FFC connector is also pretty screwed up.

That, and the mobo I have is eDP only and the NOS lid I bought is LVDS.

The decision has been made: i'm going to sell off part of my collection. The M4700 will be the first one to go, followed by the M60.

A hard decision, but space is increasingly becoming a issue, and I don't even use most of my 15" Precisions anyways. I will rebuild the M6800 and keep that one since it's a Covet and I already bought the parts for it in the USA.

The idea is to sell off the M4600, M4700, maybe the M6700 Covet as it's lid is ****ed and I can't find a new one anywhere, the M2400, M4300 and some of the Pentium era Precisions too, like the M60. Machines that I will likely never sell are the M6400 and M6500, Dell Internal Use Only M6300, the M40/M50 or the M70.

I went full retard and nuked my M6700 Covet's motherboard :(

Also, the M6700 Covet and M6800 Covet lids are NOT interchangable! Physically they fit, but they're internally different so you can't put in a IPS screen in the M6800 lid. Or the opposite for that matter.

Does't matter either way, i'm parting out the M6700 to fund parts for the M6800.

And that's the M4300 downgraded to a T8100 and 4GB RAM. Sold the X9000 and 8GB RAM to a ThinkPad enthusiast. Now to get rid of the laptop itself... with this ****ed market it will be extremely hard to do so.
