Just as a short plug...I love my C2758 1U Supermicro. Had a tiny issue with Cox Cable not issuing an IP to the onboard NIC, but once I moved to 1Gb service and PCIE NIC it all went out the window. I'm pushing close to 933Mb consistently and thats including PPPoE overhead and single core performance for PPPoE.Well I ended up purchasing the TrendNet TEG-30284 for a couple of reasons. First was it was only 25 watts maximum, and second because the switching capacity was higher in both throughput (128Gbs vs 88Gbs) and pps (96Mpps vs 65Mpps)
For routing I'll end up using a physical PFSense box, but I'll have to decide on a Opteron 4332HE or a Rangeley 2758 for processing.
Looks like I know what I will be getting soon.Sooo, Mikrotik is now listing the CSS326-24G-2SplusRM, a 1U L2 Switch running SwitchOS with 2x 10G SFP+ and 24x 1G RJ45, for 139$.
I know its totally internal mental pain, but Mid-cable is gross to me. I'd almost prefer they build it into a 1U plate that I can mount below it!Looks like I know what I will be getting soon.
Still no internal power supply which stinks! hard to have a rackmount switch with a PSU that is mid-cable.
If you look at the back picture, it seems you can install your own PSU. A fitting cutout for a C14 socket seems already prepared. Should be enough space for a good one in there.Looks like I know what I will be getting soon.

Yes that's what I meant - why buy a Juniper 2500 for $500 when you can get the LB6M for $200 (unless you need/want the additional features)Lb6m is all sfp+ 10Gb too.
