NOW $109 !! L5639 !! WOW ! When will the insanity stop? !! Dude has hundred thousand so i'm thinking these will be down to $50 in a few months!!

Haswell has NOTHING on the L5639!! :)

Wow, should be interesting to see how low these can go. One hell of a deal, that's for sure.
Now if only the LFF DL380 G6's were as cheap as the 14 bay DL180 CTO chassis' on Ebay.....

Yea, they certainly do not appear to be all that common.... Guess that's why they are so much more expensive. Would be perfect for my home use application though.

The SFF CTO chassis with 2 redundant PSU's start at $230 ish + shipping, whereas the LFF with only 1 PSU is around $500. Quite the difference.....

Thanks folks! I just landed a pair of L5639's on ebay for $140! Would never have thought to offer that low if not for this forum!

I bought them for a 5520 equipped C1100 that should be here next week. Overall I lost $70 on the deal (L5639 equipped server with 72GB RAM was $599 but sold out, I got the 5520 server for $429) although I guess I could list the 5520's at $35 and break even...

I think it's because it takes some work to find out about the 5639. The 5600 series has some general identity issues with some 4 core and 6 core processors in the lineup. Once more info and benchmarks come out, these will be more sought I think.

they are oem only and probably unsupported on some mobo's. no ARK either so they seem fake as all heck if you can't see it on the intel ARK.

Not fake at all. Intel has lots of non-retail and/or confidential part numbers in their catalog. Only the retail and OEM parts get included in ARK. The L5639 part number and S-spec codes are documented in third party databases, including some that are available on the web (check it at CPU-world.com).

SLBJZ is the commercial part, Q4U2 is he A0 stepping ES version. HP, Dell and IBM have all listed servers in thier catalog using this chip.

I was bored and had this chip sitting for 2weeks now. Something told me to try it out instead of waiting for my ecc memory to ship.
I can confirm that this chip do work on my motherboard UD3R X58. And using same 24gb of memory. So tempted to buy a few cheap motherboard on Craigslist now.

Mac pro use the X58 motherboard with 2 sockets ;) most folks don't realize it can work without ecc with any ram. Talk about weird huh
