i tried one cpu and try two. no go. latest bios on both systems. i think i got two bad cpu... anyone can tell me anything else i can try?
On the S2600CP can you go in through the BCM and see what it says for the installed processor?

cannot do anything in the s2600 system. its stuck in a reboot loop. these should be capable with all 2011 MB right?

these should be compatible with all 2011 system right?

Even with a boot-loop you should be able to get to the BCM and see the logs and if there is a CPU error.

not seeing anything being recorded in the log at all ;(

this definitely doesn't look right. going to msg the seller for a return.... If anyone else has gotten these cpu recently from ebay, and esp from seller cuba4sale, please post your experience on here, esp what MB you use esp if it's S2600cp. thanks

Oh bummer, I ordered from cuba4sale, but will not receive it for a few weeks as it is being shipped to Europa over sea.
Do you also have s2600cp MB too? I am starting to wonder if intel is playing strict again. seeing how they played the pciexpress 3.0 and v1 cpu with us before?

Also just found out that my lenovo D30 is the 4229 subtype definitely with no support for v2 cpu :(

If anyone else in the US got this cpu, esp if it's from cuba4sale on ebay, please leave a post on here if you got it working for you. please include MB info too. thanks.

I have a cube4sale pair, both bad. I also have a s2600cp motherboard, but this board is able to use e5-2692v2 and that is not in the supported list. I have written them off as bad... it could be the motherboard, but I'm not likely to get another brand. I'd be happy to mail the cpus to someone with a different board, I'm not going to use them.

Well, since I am not able to get them to work on mine, will have to return it. You not considering returning yours? I might order another 2696 v2 from another seller and see if it will work at all. The price from other sellers is only $20 more so it's somewhat acceptable if it works.

Thanks for the reply. Now would be really good if anyone has another different MB and also got this cpu from this seller can confirm that it also does not work for them.

I can't be sure it's not the motherboard. Mine does the same as yours, it gets stuck in a power on loop, no beeps or bios braille codes. I don't have an ipmi adapter to see the bmc, so I don't know what's going in there.

Sometimes it's good to get such "confirmation" of what we have in our mind when considering about which CPU arch/gen/tick/tock to go for. A very good point about DDR3 vs DDR4, which is day and night in prices!

Just got 2 of these with BO for 580$ or $290 each from this seller. See if anyone else can go lower.

Also,

e5-2696 v2 12 cores 2.5ghz: $300-320

e5-2675 v3 16 cores 1.8ghz: $400

e5-2696 v2 total computational power at base clock is faster than e5-2675 v3 (12 x 2.5 = 30, 16 x 1.8 = 28.8). e5-2675 v3 turbo up to 2.3 while e5-2696 v2 turbo up to 3.3 so e5-2696 v2 at turbo is even faster. add to that the cheaper ddr3 for v2 cpu. So there is really no comparison between e5-2675 v3 and e5-2696 v2. Hope i didnt make any wrong assumption....

FWIW, I have no issues with 2x E5-2690 v2 in the Intel S2600CP motherboard with the most recent BIOS. I replaced E5-2670 v1 CPUs with them.

would E5-2696v2 work on motherboard S2600CP?

Seems like it may be a motherboard issue
Don't you just freakin love it when there's a thread on a forum describing your exact problem but only to have zero solution or conclusion when you scroll down to the end?

So seems like at this point the MB can't be completely excluded yet? I think i don't have any problem with initiating a return with ebay regardless. I mean the only thing that's really of matter to me is if the 2 cpu i got are really defective then i would really like to get the replacement from another seller. but still have to exclude MB.
