Thx @jcl333 - i tried it, but i got the same error-message.
Hmm, I will help you if I can. Hard for me to know what you might be doing wrong, or if it will even work with the particular drives you are using.

I know it was a big "WooHoo!" moment when I finally got this to work. I didn't even believe it, plugged it into another controller to confirm.

One thing that helped is for the version of Niagara I downloaded, someone created a bunch of PDF's in the download that showed how to do it, I probably would not have figured it out without that. So thanks to whomever make those ;-)

Thanks for your reply and the details.

I tried it but i receive following error-message:

View attachment 16177

Seems like that the firmware restrict this action (IBM branded), hm ?
Does anybody have a firmware for a HGST Ultrastar SSD1600MM (400GB / HUSMM1640ASS201) or a method to change the sas2- to sas3-speed ?
PHY1 & 2, each need to have "11" in 2 places (total of 4) ?
You only have "11" in 2 places.

Thx for your help.

Tried it, tried it in x86, tried it in x64, tried another backplane.
No chance, my devices seems to be locked by firmware.

I did the linux version and I found that I had to choose "save pages" for the setting to survive after reinserting the drive. So I suggest trying that setting. I didn't bought drives under this deal and mines are 200g version.
