What is the model number of your 2.5G module? The 10G module running at 2.5G is hot to the touch and I'm wondering if the 2.5G ones run cooler.
As far as that's concerned, I am unable to find it anywhere. and anyway the TP link is only a wee bit more expensive than it is

If I understand your response correctly, you're suggesting I buy the TP-Link one rather than chasing a small amount of savings

I purchased the Hassivo 10G version of the TP-Link switch last year but could only ever find one RJ45 module that worked (generic and otherwise) so have given up and purchased the v2 1008f switch and a TP-Link 2.5G module off Aliexpress.

I’ll just put the Hassivo one on eBay,

I really wanted a managed switch but couldn’t really afford anything with 10G/2.5G/1 support, so I will wait.

I probably should start a new thread but this has the necessary context and my post may help somone.

I've previously gotten transfers between the 10G ports (servers) and both the 2.5G and the 1G ports (clients) working as expected. I recently had to do some transfers directly between a 2.5G client and a 1G client and was surprised to achieve only about 500Mbps for both iperf3 and large file transfers over CIFS.

It looks like there is some odd interaction between the two copper transceivers.

I've ordered a switch with 4 2.5G and 2 SFP+ ports to see if this problem goes away.
