What helps a bit is shutting down the unused ports.177w.

its funny, I checked generations of what we still have in prod 5820, no power details, 5920, 343 idle, 5930/5940, 100w idle so at some point someone figured out power had a cost

There is no on-box GUI like Juniper with J-web on JunOS. Arista does offer CloudVision, but that's a pretty hefty service that you have to host internally on bare metal or your virtualization infrastructure (or pay for a cloud subscription). It provides a whole variety of config management and automation functions, as well as monitoring of streaming telemetry from the switches, but it's a beast and fairly complex to stand up in a homelab environment. Not to mention the licensing... ; )

I read that CloudVision (Arista management platform) uses honor based licensing but also "you will however break some EULA so after a while you need to pay up for the features you use. This also means that there are no licensing numbers to put in anywhere - the licensing is purely a paper product (and money moving from your wallet to Arista wallet).".

The datasheet will tell you what part # will allow you to install in a 4-post configuration. The kit is more expensive and many on eBay include only part of the kit--inner rails missing.
At work, I use 7280SR3s in a service provider network where most of them are mounted in 2-post racks. Arista includes ears intended for the purpose (which may or may not be included with used switches purchased elsewhere), but I would not recommend hanging the switches by ears mounted all the way forward. I attach the ears so they're about halfway back; the switches balance well around their midpoint, and I've never had a problem.
FWIW, there's a thread in the networking section where people looking for different EOS releases tend to congregate. You may want to ask there if there's something you're looking for...
my 40g breakout cable I ordered to test the 40G ports arrived today. They work as expected. So far no surprises with this switch. It's a keeper.
