Sorry I don't have a thermal camera. I don't think it has a temperature sensor in it either. I did try RJ45 10gb. It doesn't get any hotter than usual under testing load I think. I don't know how to test the entire bandwidth of it like how STH does it though.

I should also add that if you buy now you don't get any Hasivo blue branding paint on it if it matters to you. I asked the seller apparently it's so new they're mostly selling it B2B to other companies to rebrand. It looks like this:

I currently have 4 ports plugged in. 1 using 1G, 3 using 10G. It is so hot that I can't touch it for very long. My shelf is made of steel and the switch doesn't have rubber feet so I think it helps with cooling.

I was looking at the POE L3 version of this switch for futureproofing. So if I need to wall mount it this is not the switch to get due to heat? Does it have to pinholes for wall mounting underneath? I dont really need more than what the S605GTP-2SX-SL POE version offers at the moment. Should I get that instead so it dosent make a burn mark on the wall?

I'm not so sure the metal shelf helps that much with cooling since you don't have any thermal interface material between them. Two rough power coated metal surfaces don't necessarily transfer heat between them that well on their own.

I'm considering one of these myself. Could I ask you to take screenshots from the meny where you can configure the port speed in the management UI? Does it allow you to select speeds like DAC50CM, DAC100CM, DAC300CM and DAC500CM on the SFP+ ports? :)

Trying to decide between the S1100WP-4SX-4XGT-SE (L2 managed, PoE) and the F1100WP-4SX-4XGT (L3 managed, PoE). The price difference between the two during the Anniversary sale tomorrow will seemingly be slightly less than $20 (including 25% VAT). In other words, $242.92 vs. $223.17 including VAT (or $194.34 vs. $178.54 without VAT). Perhaps it makes more sense to go with the L3 managed version at that point? :)

I have the Hasivo S600WP-5GT-2S+_SE, which POEPLUS rebrands as S605GTP-2SX-SL. I tried to find the hottest part of the underside of the metal case with my fingers and measured it using my cheap IR thermometer. I also tried different parts of the case randomly. This gave me readings in the 45-54°C range.

Note that I think that the temperature that becomes uncomfortable to the skin is somewhere in that range and burning can occur at 50°C or so if you hold it long enough. That could mean that the sensation @rexyuan described on his F1100W-4SX-4XGT might be in a similar range, but it could also be hotter.

Considering I am going to stick it to the wall then I guess S605GTP-2SX-SL will be safer?
I'm not convinced that the 10 Gbps switch discussed here necessarily generates noticably more heat unless you run all RJ45 ports at 10 Gbps. Without measurements we really can't know though.

Btw. you probably want to compare prices between the original Hasivo model S600WP-5GT-2S+_SE and the POEPLUS model you are looking at since the prices can differ quite a bit between what's essentially identical units based on sales, shipping, etc. :)

Not sure why you'd want an expensive L3 Switch with a dubious/sketchy Firmware. Why L3 at all ? Shouldn't you do your Main Router (and Firewall) Appliance (e.g. OPNSense) do the L3 Work so it also properly applies Firewall Rules ?

The ONTI ONT-S508CL-8S (which is apparently a rebranded XikeStor SKS8300-8X) at least has beta OpenWRT support.

Approx. 80 EUR shipped each (including VAT) for a 8xSFP+ Ports. Need to get another PSU because the Stock ones is a Public Danger !!!

For this case I need a managed POE switch. The FW1100 only has one managed POE version and that is the L3 one. I do not need L3. But I need to configure VLANS. I like this one for future proofing since all ports is 10G. I do not need all ports to be 10G currently. But I am skeptical due to the heat and wall mounting. Therefore I think the S605GTP-2SX-SL might be safer for wall mounting since we now know the max temp should be at 54C according to Blundens post.

The POEPLUS versions is the cheapest of the two for me. There is a cheaper one that looks the same from ONTI. But the ONTI version has way worse spec. However I am not sure we can trust any of the specs.

ONT-S207CW-72TS has 80Gbits backplane and 29.76 Mpps packet forwarding.
S605GTP-2SX-SL has 160Gbits backplane and 119.04Mpps packet forwarding.

It's mostly generic firmware from the Realtek SDK as far as I know. In my case, it's more about having the console port populated and possibly avoiding some bugs in the L2 managed interface. I don't need the L3 features, and the hardware should be the same either way. A lot of what makes it more expensive is PoE and 10 Gbps RJ45 ports, not just the management. :)

Not sure why you bring up an SFP+ only switch. That's irrelevant here where people clearly need PoE on at least some ports for APs etc. and a combination of SFP+ and RJ45. :)

There is an L2 managed one called S1100W-4SX-4XGT-SE too. Hardware should presumably be the same besides not having the console cable populated. :)

Ok. :)

Make sure to compare now that the sale is going on. For me, POEPLUS charged roughly $30-50 in shipping on top of a similar base price. I have seen them be cheaper than Hasivo in the past sometimes though, so I can certainly believe that too. :)

Specs like that can't really be trusted. You can find some more information about the different RTL93xx chips here:

The POEPLUS one you mentioned should be RTL9301 and the Hasivo one discussed in this thread should be RTL9303.

That i did not... Well its to late now.
You could always try ordering another one with the coupon code 239AS4, or whatever code they show you on the main page of AliExpress. If the first one doesn't work (seems to be an artificially limited supply of the coupon codes), you could try 139AS2 for $20 off.

If your other one hasn't shipped, you can just cancel the old order once you've placed the new order. :)

Tested with your first code that did not work. When I tried with your second code it said already applied. Thanks for the tip though :)
