IPMI > vPro all day every day

You could also go for a PiKVM and then use any motherboard you like

I have also read about this. However, I do not want to use additional hardware again, if it is also much easier. I have an Intel NUC with 1250P CPU and AMT function. Only for home as a small server (Proxmox, Docker, LXC's,...).

Is this what you are looking for?
It seems to be opensource now.
Firmware loader is also there - just not available from the front page.

It has been on github for a while now. I probably have a copy of the .MSI installer somewhere but that is really ancient now and it is all node.js now including the ability to upload the firmware. I guess a bit more work but I never used the Windows stuff being Linux based.
