Hey guys, first timer here but have been lurking for a while.
I'm hoping someone here might be able to shed some light on NVMe drive compatibilty with the m.2 slot.
My board (X10SDV-4C-TLN2F) fails to detect both my 970 EVO and a Transcend 220S drive.
In BIOS I put the m.2 oprom in EFI mode...
I'd love some thoughts on what is the better ESXi 7.0 boot drive, the Samsung 970 EVO Plus or WD SN750, both @ 500 GB. Specs seem quite similar and just prefer to toss the matter out to the pros (which I am NOT). Please let me know - after review of my constraints - if I'm completely barking up...
Hi folks,
After an unpleasant experience of a simultaneous corruption of both usb boot drives i would like to put into my hp microserver g10 an pcie card with m.2 slot and use a ssd to boot the machine. No more sata slots left, all 5 gone.
So i am wondering if somoene uses nvme or sata to boot...
Hello all, I was wondering if I could get some suggestions/recommendations on some 4tb NVME SSDs. I'm a graphic designer by trade and plan on using my computer for profession/business use. I often deal with very large file sizes and intensive workloads, so I need something that is realible and...

Hi,
I'm sure I'm not the only who is looking for such a solution: I'm looking to purchase 4 U.2 drives and hook them into a Threadripper based motherboard (I didn't buy any motherboard yet, still planning).
Surprisingly, the only card I found is the Supermicro AOC-SLG3-4E4R (and the 4E4T...
I'm looking to build/buy a high-performance NVMe storage server for virtualization purposes.
I need a server with at least 8 hot-swappable nvme (or with storage, adaptable to nvme drives, u.2 maybe?) that does not break the bank(prefferably, under $10K without the drives)
Plain nvme...
Will NVMe M.2 form factor SSDs placed in an U.2 2.5" enclosure perform similar to their U.2 counter parts? And can they be used with the Supermicro's NVMe server lineup? Any enclosure recommendations?
While oogling assorted NVMe gear, I ran across a bit of an oddball device. U.2 2.5" form factor device that hosts a PCIe switch and 4 M.2 22110 drives. An interesting potential alternative to an Amfeltec Squid.

I recently bought a Supermicro SuperServer Dual X8DTT-HF+ 2U Chassis for homelab purposes (virtualization, NAS, domotica, media server etc).
Per node the case has six 3.5inch trays I would like to use for NAS drives. The X8DTT-HF+ comes with a PCIE x8 ricer card, I'd like to use for the boot...
I picked this up today: ADATA 120GB M.2 2242 SSD Solid State Drive AXNS340E-120GM-B HP P/N 832447-001 | eBay
Looks like a hot deal (22 sold in 24 hours from what I see) and at $40 for 120GB, I can understand why.
Fine print: I have no relationship with the seller, and I am sharing this link...
Hi folks!
At work we have an older Nexenta ZFS rig serving mostly iSCSI to ESXi blades that my boss is getting worried about because we have no "support" and the drives are getting old, and the people who built it made a zpool ashift choice error (default ashift=9 rather than forcing 12) so we...
I'm building a new gaming pc, and as it has support for m.2 pcie nvme boot drives, I'd like to use that :)
What is the best deal these days for a ~250GB nvme drive?
(new or used/refurbished)

I've visited this site a bit recently, but I haven't made an account and posted until now. In the last few weeks, I have gotten the parts for and breadboarded a custom Workstation PC. The PCPartPicker list is at Extreme Workstation Build - evanzolman's Saved Part List - Xeon E5-269... -...
