I did try throttle stop. It can’t bypass the MSR lock on TDP—if the oem sets the lock then TDP is fixed in stone—so it wasn’t any better than XTU.
same on gigabyte MD71 but i managed to remove all the Lock's without BIOS mod with RU.efi

you needed to find an old version of XTU to do an all-core overclock (which wasn’t available directly from intel so you are stuck downloading from random sources on the internet)
there was a leak of some intel confidential software, included was also XTU-6.5.1.371-VIP
XTU SDK Programmer's Guide
XTU BIOS Writer's Guide
IntelOverclockingSDK
and many more....

Thanks for the replies. I wonder if the X299 workstations have that locked too. They're not Xeons though.

Yes but it's Dell, andf it's a workstaion. T5820X so who knows what will happen there. Unlocked Chipset and unlocked CPU, I'm guessing TS will be able to deal with it. I just became aware of these possibly unlocked workstations. I don't have one to play with.

looks good. no oc lock and std. AMI BIOS, any additional obstacles should be solvable with IFRExtractor & RU.efi.

Anyone playing with a bios that they are able to use the amibcp 5. Whatever. You can use amisce to modify nvram variables way easier than playing ru.efi.
Amibcp would not change the settings in my 5810. I went after hard hex edits and it didn't work either. Amisce removed all locks , I have my OC lock off, current and wattage limits raised and use XTU to set my overclock. My only limitation is the actual current limit on the mosfets. If I go too high with power the PC just reboots. If I have pl1 at 185w and pl2 at 205 watt then I have no issue. My 1680v3 is set up for 4.7ghz 2 cores active 4.6ghz 4 cores active and 4.5ghz 8 cores active. Running 1.4v with a negative .010v offset.
I've been wanting someone with an unlocked CPU in a 5820 to want to play with this.

Can I find this on a Google search or do you have a link. I'd love to have more XTU options.
For whatever reason TS breaks once I unlock overclocking in the bios.

don't work too often for me. the AMI_Aptio_5.x_SCE_User_Guide_NDA.pdf is funny.
What do you mean doesn't work too often for you?
There is sorta a specific way to set things. Some things like voltages I haven't figured out how my bios wants them entered yet .

Look at the manual. There should be a switch to show everything hidden.
Your workstation bios may purposely hide everything.

Fair enough
Did you have to do anything special with amibcp to get it to work
I couldn't even manage to brick my board using it lol.
I have an external programmer
I have bricked my board a few times making changes with Intel fitc. Seems like the smallest change to ME hard bricks it.

i do not use AMIBCP5 myself, just to tell you the BIOS is open.
i change only some settings for intel XTU to work. it is easy with RU.efi without flashing anything.
set to default or CMOS reset clears my changes,
