wrong chassis. there are two variants of the 825. that one is made for the "U" (e.g., X8DTU-F) boards that use a 2U riser and allow for full profile PCI cards. you'll need to find the 825 with the "LP", which has 7x low profile PCI slots.
UGH I'm blind. I didn't read the full model number on SM website. Thanks

here are a few 825 options:

Supermicro CSE-825TQ-563LPB 2U Case Rackmount Server Chassis 3x Fans 560W P/S | eBay

2U Supermicro 825TQ-R700LPB 2U Server Rackmount Chassis 3.5" Tray +PSU | eBay

Supermicro 2U Server Chassis CSE-826 SAS2-826EL1 Backplane 2x 920w PSU | eBay

The last one is a 12-bay variant.

I know I've pulled EE-ATX boards out of 825 chassis, and the 826 is close enough it should work. Older revisions might not have board stand-offs in the right place, but you can work around that by using dummy stand-offs.

I hate when sellers are too cheap to buy socket covers for their boards. I would be very interested to hear if you guys receive these with unbent pins. Their cardboard solution is very weird. Putting something between the pins and the loading plate(as opposed to a socket cover which protects it from above the loading plate) is just asking for trouble imo.

i'm still waiting to receive my board, but in the meantime i've been picking up a few things (CPU, heatsinks, etc.) to fit this board into a Supermicro 216A chassis. i now have 2 extra Supermicro 2U SNK-P0048P square ILM CPU heatsinks that should fit this board and I can let go for $10/each+shipping if anyone else who got in on this wants them..

The docs say to remove ram and if there are no error code beeps to replace the board..did that no beeps...board bad or simply does not support the sr19k?

what's the issue with the intel boards in PCI-E 3?

intel s2600 pci e is limited to 2.0 instead of 3.0 when using v1 cpu and pci e cards not on their "approval" list (which means just about most of the pcie cards).

this limit does not apply if you use v2 cpu.

But intel s2600 doesn't let you run a few of the v2 OEM cpu like the 2696 v2 even though it's not QS/ES.

Are you looking at IPMI or only VGA output? Maybe VGA is off or broke?

No BIOS codes at boot?

NO BOOT! I tried VGA and a PCIE graphics cards - Honestly I don't know how look at IPMI.

Kinda frustrated, I testing the SR19ks on a Chinese x79 board and they work great, very very low power idle, under 10W...for a 12 core 30mb cache CPU that is pretty low.

Using SAMSUNG 8GB 1R4 Registered ECC 1288s, they all work on the x79s.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

you connected the main 24 pin as well as both of the 8 pin cpu connectors?

Yup with 3 differrent power supplies of different makes, I contacted the seller and he said they wete old and might not have nios revision 3 installed which is required for v2, so would this mean i have to biy a e5 v1 to update the bios?

that might be the case...

however, before you try that, i've occassionally seen people with a board that won't POST because they installed it in a case with a different board stand-off setup and there was a standoff that was shorting something on the back of the motherboard. double check that first, and if unsure, set up the board on some cardboard or wooden desk outside the case first and see if it starts to work.

short of that, you might have to buy a v1 CPU, but the lowest end stuff is pretty cheap now...

That would be the easiest way. E5 2603/2609 should be cheap.

It is possible that you can update BIOS from the IPMI if DHCP is enabled and the password is default (ADMIN:ADMIN). Just connect a Ethernet cable to the lonely RJ45 plug and check DHCP leases in your router for SM485784757 or something and enter that IP in your web browser.

I bought one of these from the same seller. The board came with Bios v1.1a dated 10/4/2012 which would not boot with a v2 CPU, but would with a v1.

I think a cheap v1 cpu would be the easiest way to update the Bios.

out there
on my X9DRD-7LN4F-JBOD if I plugged in both 8pin cpu psu connectors no boot- used only one with 1 cpu and it worked fine- I am new to dual cpu
also read that ipmi must be updated before bios

Read directions carefully on updatinng BIOS and BMC, they refer to a management engine jumper.

Also, you can't update BIOS via IPMI unless you have a software license which honestly I have zero where you would get it.

Maybe if you can buy locally. Shipping is at least $5 if you expect a seller to do it properly, so that's basically $4. If you can buy locally, like Craigslist, you might find something for less.
I mean, is there any other xeon cpu that's designed slower than this 2603 v1? or is this the rock bottom lowest cheapest slowest xeon part?
