I got this board. its nice, but i would trade it for an E-ATX board that actually fits in a normal rack chassis. for eeatx without crazy mods its like your options are some supermicro chassis or large tower cases. or some cubes

Is it better than intel s2600 series?
I would say yes because the connectors are more standard, has more DIMMs, and has IPMI. Only place I think the S2600 wins out is in the expansion slot department.

What is considered a good deal now the E5-2670 era has departed?
I'd really like to find a E5-2660/2670/2680 v2 in the under $100 range. I see the E5-2660v2 coming close to $100 these days, but I notice a lot of CA ebay sellers keep trying to push the price back up after the individual/non-business sellers are no longer listed. I've been tracking it weekly for the last 6 months... wishing the TX or East cost sellers had some stock in those CPUs... they tend to be more willing to negotiate, at least in my experience.

Snagged 2x 2680 V2 for $300 (total).

Def. a good bump over 2660 that make the 100 bucks worth it :) IMHO.

with the supermicro you wont have the issues with pcie3 that all the intel boards have.
i have on of these boards in 826A, for the B i think its too wide.
