Supermicro 216 chassis for me. Plenty of airflow, so I'm hardly worried. None of my servers have fans on the heatsink as it's kinda expected to be using chassis airflow except for the desktop towers.
Thank you @pgh5278
I was planning on putting this into a UNAS 800 case, but from my preliminary testing - the 10gig network does not link up to 10gig on the ES-16.
Is there something that needs to be done to make it link up to 10gig on the rj-45 side ?
I'm about ready to send this switch back and just turn a T7500 into a switch.
It's a 45W TDP chip, which is pretty easy to passively cool.
FWIW, I run a few 1U Supermicro servers with 45W TDP Sandy Bridge Xeons, and they all stay between 50 and 60 deg C fully stressed on stresslinux, with the fans at ~4800-5300 rpm.
