Amazingly, when I removed my Soft PowerPlay Table the card in question started boosting properly. Still doesn't do >1700 on water though, even at 1.25V

Also, the B550 Unify-X is a absolute piece of shit. Whatever I do, I can't boot into Windows 90% of the time, either at XMP or 3800 CL16.

From MSI's show i think only x570 unify was decent motherboard, all others came with issues.

I'm definitely regretting buying that board tbh, buildzoid and many others said it's the best AM4 RAM OC'ing board, but god damn does it suck.

keep in mind that it may also be cpu's fault; as mem controller is on the die?
I run msi x570 unify at home with 5900x and 128G 3600MHz CL14 ram, when its sufficiently cold the cpu overclocks itself to 5.2GHz on all cores (close to 0'C's under load).
It just worked out of the box for me. (but seasonic titanium, and ups - that also does make difference)

I'm done screwing around and just listed the board for sale, and will be on the lookout for a cheap Crosshair VIII Extreme which will replace the C8DH in the VR rig.

Someone please kill me, I had to traverse the autism fest that is Tweakers.net and I got my hands on a ASUS C8DH.

But at least I know that's a stable board unlike that piece of shit B550 UX. What's even nicer about the C8DH is the fact I can run the 4x16 B-Die kit I bought a while back!

C8DH received. Took forerver to setup, and i'm starting to suspect the latest BIOS being very, very scuffed.

In water cooling related news, since I need to swap the fans of my top rad in the main rig anyway, I bought THIS: HWLabs Black ICE Nemesis 420 GTX Radiotor

i don't think there is a better board that msi meg x570 unify from zen3 board. The bios is stable, and supports high-clocks without blowing up voltage, and amp. (but like everything it also depends on your cpu die lottery.)

If you are interested i have some left-overs from when i played with watercooling -> think i have 360mm or 480mm radiator, and some other crap. (but you will need to clean them.) -- and only if you are in states. (free of charge, as ts only taking space)

Need to swap the front rad fans to Exhaust, temps didn't really change :|

Wow, I finally found out what kept hardlocking my computer in VRChat since 2022 or so: the X-Fi Titanium itself. It's drivers are so broken it causes conflicts with EasyAntiCheat.

What's even worse is that the onboard sound card on the C8E is complete ass compared to the C8DH can't use generic Realtek drivers with the Realtek control panel.

That's like how iCUE kept causing pubg lockups since they used battleye as their anti-cheat. As soon as battleye would randomly scan iCUE during gameplay, everything hard locked =P Took me about a year to figure it out =P

I love buying crap from PPCS in the US. Just scored two HWL GTS 280 rads for $100 which i'm going to use on the Retro Rig it's water cooler, since I also use it on my GPU bench rig and those dual 240s don't really cut it for a 5950X and >200W RX480.

Speaking of buying crap, I finally got myself a R9 Fury X. Card does ~1150 with the stock cooler which is complete crap.

eBay to the rescue though :^) I ordered a Aquacomputer kryographics block for only 10 bucks. Guy also had a Heatkill GPU-X3 which I bought since I know some janky things I can do with it.

Card already maxes out at 1150 or so on the stock AIO and buildzoid on stream just now said that Fury Xes don't scale above 1.3V either.

Yeah, i also own one - i did try dice bucket with ethanol instead of coolant on it - doesn't push over 1280MHz at -5'C (so it doesn't freeze the pump right away) // 290x tho i was able to clock one @ 1400MHz core in similar but subpar setup.
