Well since my 2080 Ti decided to McFucking kill itself, I just bought a 4090 iChill Frostbite Ultra. That's a €1970 hole I need to fill now, OUCH

Hope that dead card gets me something. With a little luck I can get back what I paid for it.

Managed to sell the broken D7XL (for a garbage price I might add, oh well) and I received the 4090. HOLY SHIT ITS QUICK, both in AI workloads and GTA V or benchmarks like Superposition.

Since taking this pic, I upgraded the absolutely horrible 4x8-pin to 16-pin 12VHPWR pigtail cable to a much cleaner 2x8-pin to 12VHWPR cable.

I just scored a DAMN good deal on two 200 mm Heatkiller Tubes with multiport tops and D5 Next pumps: €216 including shipping from Germany.

Jumped on it the second I got the notification. Think I might recreate the dual 240 mm loop for the Retro Rig since that 3x480 loop is stupidly overkill.

EDIT: shit I also noticed the Basic Mounting Kit is included, HELL YES :D that's another €40 or so saved!

**** yes, I finally found someone selling a ton of 16/10 STC Classic fittings in black. The HAF XB (that a friend of mine has currently because lack of space on my end and he wanted to try out PC gaming anyway) has a few mismatching fittings I can fix now!

I also had the absolutely genius idea of flashing the Galax 666W vBIOS to my 4090 (thanks Kefi for the excellent nvflashk btw) and now it does above 3 GHz on water lololol

Not that I ever need the power since all I do is play GTA V in 1600p or some VRChat if I can be arsed to setup my Index. VRC is still highly, highly CPU/memory access bound unfortunately so other than the 24GB VRAM the 4090 is of little benefit compared to the 2080 Ti KPE, which I also managed to sell earlier today thankfully.

Reservoirs received. One seems to work and is now in the VR rig, didn't test the other one yet.

Next step: swapping the res of the external WC.

Done. Jesus, what a bunch of crap in the right side rad. I have flushed it before installing but much more blue stuff (dried up coolant, Cryofuel?) came out of the reservoir and filter.

Should be receiving my QDCs and fittings tomorrow so I can continue rebuilding the Retro Rig WC.

PSA: DO NOT BUY THIS PHOBYA POWER BRICK, IT HAS 5V AND 12V MIRRORED! IT WILL DESTROY ANYTHING YOU CONNECT TO IT! I already ****ed up one of my D5 Nexts by doing so, and the other ones I tried complained about 5V being out of range!

I can only hope either Aquacomputer or Highflow will reimburse me for the dangerous power brick and broken D5N!

EDIT: And even if you manually swap the 5V and 12V pins around, it won't work!

EDIT 2: I was told by Highflow that the adapter is 12V only, despite the sticker saying otherwise. Do not buy if you're planning on powering the D5 Next with it! Molex/SATA powered D5 pumps are fine since they're 12V and above only.

Just bought some PTM7950 off Aliexpress. Am very interested in seeing how it will work on my 6900 XT since it has absolutely horrible die-to-waterblock contact.

I went full retard within five minutes: bought a dirt cheap GTX 1050 Ti LP, decided the fans are way too goddamn loud, flashed some random ass EVGA vBIOS on it that supposedly had Fan Stop, bricked.

Took me almost 2 hours just to find the right ****ing vBIOS, thanks MSI /s either way it's fixed now.

In other news, someone listed a dirt cheap HWL GTS 120 rad on eBay for $25 with free shipping, so I thought why the hell not and bought it for the XP retro rig.

Now the not so easy part: finding reasonably priced Nvidia cards. Stupid me sold that dirt cheap 780 Ti Classified HydroCopper a while back :(

I don't ****ing believe this. The 6900 XT Toxic in the main rig, a card that always kept shutting down due to too high hotspot temp, can now run the infamous Mondstadt Cathedral map in VRChat without my system shutting down, thanks to PTM7950!

Do also keep in mind I am bumping off the 381W power limit of my 6900 XT Toxic too, I bet over time the temps become even better!

for the Genshin players among us: yes, that's a female Albedo!

I decided to go with a used but perfectly working R9 280X Toxic instead. Card does 1200/1800 on air. Not bad!

EDIT: lol so much for that 1800 MHz VRAM clock, it errors like hell. Thanks Elpida /s **** I wish this card had Hynix VRAM. Oh well, for €30 I can't complain.

oh **** I just bought another Define 7 XL. Time to order some 420 rads lol
Are you happy with that chassis? I build a gaming pc for my brother and the chassis was flexing a lot compared to supermicro 745 chassis (made of steel) and the cable management possibilities seemed a little bit messy with a mix of 2.5" and 3.5" devices ._.

Am very happy with my D7XLs and so is @Patrick, it's not the stiffest case in existence though.

A little change of plans for the XP rig, I acquired a dirt cheap computer with a P8Z68-V Pro and 2600K. Also had a AX850 PSU, w00t

Swapped over the parts from the old case to my Cosmos S and it happily runs Call of Pripyat maxed out in 1600p. Not bad, those modern drivers really help a ton, even under XP.

please kill me already

I do have a idea what i'm going to do with it though: I have pretty much everything to build water cooling short of a 120mm fan mount for a Heatkiller Tube.
