It looks like the FE card might be too much hassle / not supported well enough from AMD. Anyone want to buy it for 50 less than I paid?
Why not contact Newegg customer service via phone or chat? It may not be too late to cancel.
Note also that in some cases you can refuse the package at the time of delivery and they will refund you your money, but check with customer support first.

Answering my own question lol. You can use 2.1 configs, so far barely any difference maybe a tiny speedboost but reading the bugs its supposed to be a windows stability improvement.

I had to ddu and reinstall then 2.1 worked. No changes on that until I get back to the house on 3 Jan.

2.1 crash - is that why my miner freezes every so often? Woke up this morning and it had been offline for a few hours... guess time to upgrade.

And now one of my systems is totally offline. I had disabled Windows Updates, set it to auto login and start mining on boot, and configured a remote login to where I could edit from afar. It's also the only system with IPMI so I can't login to the BMC from another PC. :(

My luck it's sitting on some BIOS screen and costing $$ instead of just being powered off.

This is not related to Vega card performance.
I leave this info here for future reference. These RX 470 could be vega card substitute. if the price is right.

Here is a ASUS RX 470 4gb card , using Polaris Editor 1.6.x one click timing patch
underclock GPU 1145 mhz, overclock memory clock to 2000 mhz.
Two threads
{ "index" : 0, "intensity" : 768, "worksize" : 8, "affine_to_cpu" : false }
{ "index" : 0, "intensity" : 940, "worksize" : 8, "affine_to_cpu" : false }

Using xmr-stak 2.2 getting XMR 870H/s

Wow! How are temps and power draw?

RX 470 temp is 51 degree.

Before undervolt, power draw for the entire rig is 147w , or 100w for RX 470 card.
I'll be tweaking GPU and memory volt today using overdriveNtool

My one vega 64 card is doing almost 4k H/s aeon mining @ 150 watts. So about 27H/s per watt. Cost 740.

RX470 assuming double xmr rate, would be 1600 H/s aeon mining @ 100W. So about 16H/s per watt. Cost 250ish?

so you would need 2 cards to get close to perf of one vega 64. it would use 50 more watts but cost you 250ish less then vega card.
If you have extra slots to fill it and could find the rx 470 instock it might not be a bad way to get more mining while vega are out of stock.

About a month ago, Newegg had RX 570 sale at $199.
I added it in my cart, but I chicken out in the last minute.

Data point, ASUS RX 470 4gb , stock 535H/s XMR , after bios mod , 650 H/s XMR , memory overclock 870 H/s

I wished that I had done this tweaking experiment already with the RX 470.
If I knew that RX 470 could hit over 800 H/s , I would have picked up few RX 570 when it was onsale.

BTW, this ASUS RX 470 been running 12 hours stable, Windows 10 , xmr-stak 2.2 , using overdriveNtool for overclock.

True that. I would expect that the 570 could at least duplicate the 470's performance. I also notice Newegg used to allow 2 570s per order, now their limit is 1.
