Even if you could find/accomodate a SAS HBA, your TS140 layout would (likely) not permit cabling to SAS drives in the 2 (std.) 3.5 bays [side-mounted, and case side panel would not clear the (necessary) drive-end SAS connector]. The 2 [opt.] 5.25 bay locations would be OK.

Hey brother, what you need is a Marvell 9215 PCI-E 2.0 x 1 card. See this one here: Marvell 9215

or you can get this ASMEDIA 1064 chipset. Both x1 cards work perfectly. See here: ASMEDIA CARD
Correct me if I am wrong, but these are SATA controllers. If they wanted to hook up the drives referred to in this thread, they'd need a SAS controller, though.

Good catch, that seems to be the trade-off here.
These are also 512e but can be formatted to 4kn (iirc). I seem to recall having done that w/o issues. Not sure if that qualifies as a trade-off.

I reached out the seller a month and a half ago to buy 50 plus drives and he said $119.95 was the lowest they would go regardless of quantity.

I ended up ordering 86 at that price and returning two that gave me issues. So far so good tho.

I purchased from this seller and just received my drives. The listing stated 22k hours and manufactured in 2018. The drives I received had 32k hours and manufactured in 2016 (HUH721010AL4200 HGST Ultrastar He10 10TB 7200RPM SAS 12Gbps 256MB 993257125537 | eBay).

Not sure what the mix-up is. This is my first time getting into enterprise SAS drives. Worth complaining about? They accepted my offer of $119/per drive - did that just earn me the bottom of the barrel?

I think the current batch came from a high usage environment. This would explain the low price. Think I'll wait awhile before picking up any more

The 10-pack I purchased from this same seller came in last Friday (overnight shipping) - 2017 DOM and 27K hours.
I've ordered 8 more.

If your listing said 2018 DOM and ~22K POH, I would absolutely contact them. I personally would still use them and not bother with a return, but a price adjustment is absolutely warranted as the drives were quite demonstrably not as described.

Ugh, mine are also from 2016 with the same amount of power on hours. I'm still happy with the drives, but if I could get any type of partial refund it would be nice.

For eveyone that didn't get what was on the listing, please post back how you fared if you requested an adjustment. It helps to have information on which sellers work with buyers to resolve issues and which ones don't.

I sent a message displaying my discontent but did not ask for a refund of any type, I wanted to see what they would say first.
I did similar yesterday. The seller offered to replace them. Not excited for the turnaround time to ship back what I received and wait for a replacement.
Waiting for a follow-up response when I asked how that would work.
