I'm new to server hardware but I've managed to get the system going by plugging in a graphics card into a PCI-e slot and then setting up IPMI, but would really like to have the VGA port working. Any display plugged into the onboard VGA port stays blank, and the screen eventually goes to sleep. The system does continue to boot normally though.

I have checked the jumpers on the motherboard, JPG1 and JPB1 are both enabled. IPMI works, I can control power and read sensors, and I can also use the iKVM viewer.

In Ubuntu 16.04, lspci shows the MGA G200eW WPCM450 (rev 0a).

Is this just faulty hardware or could it be fixed with BIOS/IPMI firmware update? Don't want to risk it unless there is a good change of it having some benefit.

Any advice appreciated!
