Fans are controllable trough ipmi. So you can do fan curves with a little scripting.

I couldn't upgrade the bios either but pcie bifurcation was already present in the version that came with it . Just in a weird place, it's in the IIO options, not in the pcie ones.

The purpose of the Integrated Input/Output controller (IIO) is to manage all the traffic between the PCI Express domain and the mesh domain
I know but that's not where it normally is in sm boards that I've dealt with so far.
Original BIOS is OEM BIOS and can't be upgraded to standard BIOS. You either need the files from the OEM or you have to send the the boards to SM for an RMA to flash original BIOS on it. Some guys here can do that as well

The voltage is wrong (no 3.3v) to use the spare 8 pin connectors on motherboard right?
One of these will work HP 654540-001 2.5" SSD to 3.5" SATA Adapter Tray Converter SAS HDD Bracket Bay | eBay but does it inpact performance with the 9361-8i?

You have an extra molex on the backplane (takes 3 and has 4 ran to it). Tap that for ghetto mounting ssds.Anyone put an SSD in these yet?

How is the noise? I found another on ebay near me and I might grab it for the home lab, but I am very picky about noise.
It's nosier than an average 2U . Even at lower speeds vs my huawei it's noisy. Not switch bad , but not great.
Bummer. I might grab it anyway, it'll be about $120 with a couple 2690 v4s and figure out what to do with it. I love these chassis for GPU workloads. I have 3x GPUs in one in a colo and it performs great.
Is that with fans as low as they'll go without the cpu overheating? Or is that on a Supermicro 'quiet' fan profile?
