the chipset on that doesn't seem to support from what i can tell intel's VMDq technology, any idea if that really makes a difference at all versus NICs that don't have VMDq?Hotlava Vesuvius 6 Port Gig Intel Based NIC PCIe 6CGIGNIC 6C11810A3 | eBay
I've bought 2 of them. They're cheap and work good.
VMDq has nothing to do with the teaming of NICs but it does do I/O offloading in Hyper-V and is an important part of optimizing a Hyper-V hosts for performance.Isn't VMDq used to offload network processing from Hyper-V to the NIC's hardware itself (hardware vs software)? Also used in teaming (doubling up) across 2 or more NICs?
if you looks on 500W Platinum -> http://www.supermicro.com/products/powersupply/80PLUS/80PLUS_PWS-501P-1R.pdfThis is my idle power consumption from my server with 2x X5650 cpus, 48GB, and 12x3.5" disks, do you guys think I can lower the amps/wattage consumed by down-sizing to lower wattage PSUs, at least, by an amount that's worth spending moneyo n?

MCP-220-00043-0NMounting 2.5" SSDs in the 3.5" bay slots... Do you need a special Supermicro adapter, or will a normal 3.5" -> 2.5" adapter work?
Here you go...OK, it's mystery time. This chassis has a little board in it I didn't see in the other two. I went through the manual and it's not shown or mentioned. Does anybody know what it is?
It's got a long cable running from it.
At first I thought it was an intrusion switch but it's not a switch at all and it doesn't penetrate the side of the chassis.
Would someone kindly tell me what I have to do to embed pics? Thanks
