No. As I've stated, $15.00/each is the lowest they'll go. I made a mistake and accidentally said $14.00/each when it should have been $15.00/each.
You don't need to call them unless you want a quote beforehand. Their shipping is reasonable and the cost at the actual weight. Again, I paid about $30 for my first batch of 26 drives shipped via FedEx to Detroit, Michigan.
Nope. SMART isn't showing hour data I'm assuming because it's a NetApp drive. Power-on count seems fairly low. I wouldn't bother trying to determine the read and write error counts, since the value is probably a NetApp thing too. Here's the SMART data for three of my drives:

Looking at the smart data there is almost nothing usable shown...how are you going to monitor them?

I'm not worried about it. VMWare VSAN 6.2 has plenty of monitoring metrics that dump a drive into failure mode if it finds the drive to be lagging behind in latency or if the realtime checksum or data scrub comes up bad.
Just curious - would you happen to know shipping dimensions and weight?
Being an aussie id need to forward and i feel shipito would charge excessively for a stack of spinners.
The box dimensions are 18x10x7 in. and weigh roughly 10lbs with 13 drives in it.
So I don't really need 2.5" drives but do need some nice 10K 6Gbps drives. Any reason to care about 2.5" vs getting a 3.5" drive? Was going to look at 300 or 600GB 3.5" 10K drives. But these seem crazy cheap. That SMART output is a bit...concerning though.
Countered with 15, so as others mentioned I guess that's the lowest they'll take. Which is still a freaking bargain. I guess it's time to buy another enclosure.

I was thinking about this last night. It's probably possible, but I having a hard time finding the firmware on the internet.
I don't know if this would work on non dell systems / HDD

In the PDF you can see what systems these came in. Bunch of Dell R series and ProLiant.
Dell has firmware listed for 300 and 600GB models HERE. And the firmware update tool as posted earlier.
No idea if the firmware would also work on the 450GB models though, or if it will even be possible.
Perhaps one of the other compatible systems will have the firmware for a 450GB model listed. However something tells me they won't be.
I'll have a few spares so thinking about giving it a try. What's the worst that could happen? Brick them? Does anyone know if we have access to the firmware that is currently on them?
