Can I upgrade the RA13 firmware with a Windows system?
Booting into Ubuntu (off a live CD or USB stick, ect) is fairly trivial.

I would follow the steps in @jerrytsao 's post since this has been confirmed to work in Linux instead of trying to do it in Windows: https://forums.servethehome.com/ind...el-dc-p3605-p3600-800.9973/page-2#post-121358

In a live envirement, though, I would adjust the first few apt-get lines to the following:
Code:
sudo apt-add-repository universe
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install nvme-cli
The "universe" repo needs to be added to install "nvme-cli". "apt-get upgrade" isn't needed as you don't need to upgrade every package in the live environment.

Wow, I was just looking for > 1TB SSDs, this is a great deal even if they were SATA drives!

I just bought 2@$160 each, offer auto accepted.

Oh forgot to mention today there's 10% eBay bucks until tomorrow midnight. So it's an even better deal.

Damn. This is the deal that just kept giving and giving and giving. At this price I was tempted to pick up a card for each of my machines but I just don't have the PCIe lanes on my consumer boxes.

Edit: It's kind of nice to see a deal that STH doesn't crush in 15 minutes for a change.

Trying to set it up in a desktop.

I will be swapping the bracket on the two that I bought when I get them. Are you having issues, or have you not tried it?

Where did you get the brackets from ?
AFAIK, these only come with the low profile ones.

I ordered two of the brackets linked. They will be here tomorrow with the cards. I'll post how well they work when I have them installed.
Those brackets look a lot like those on a couple of LSI 9260-4i adapters I have laying around, even the spacing seems to be the same. I'll find out when I get my SSDs.

this is also asked by @BLinux and answered by @Gideon in the previously linked thread for FW updates - linking again because I think both questions will reappear.

FWIW I ordered a 5 pack (last one) for $14.00 of the full height LSI brackets 54mm separation for $14.00 - seemed like a better deal than 1 for 9.00 or 2 for 11.00 even if they say "SAS" on the bracket! ;-).

Anyone else received theirs, yet? I tossed both of mine in 2 different machines and I can't get them to POST with either of them installed... If I take them out, then everything boots up fine. o_O

Edit - Neeeever mind. I derped. These boards don't support PCIe NVMe. :(

The machine should boot up even without PCIe nvme support in BIOS.

I have tested and flashed the Intel P3605 in a 8 years old AMD machine .
I owned over 6 of Oracle P3605 SSD.

You may want to test the Intel P3605 in another host, or there is a problem with the host PCIe.
Try another PCIe slot.

today, I plugin a second P3605 into a I7-4770 MSI Z97 board. The first P3605 ran perfect, added a second P3605 caused a boot loop.

Interesting... I'm using an I7-4790k and a Z87 Asus ROG Maximus VI Extreme. I even tried removing all other cards, all other storage, and all my RAM and I still can't get it to POST with the P3605 in it.

Try taping the two smbus pins, you may have a hardware conflict that's preventing you from posting. I'm on mobile right now but I'd be happy to link a how-to when I'm on a real computer later. I've had to do this with a variety of NICs, storage adapters and even an Nvidia GPU at one point.

Mine arrived today too, I'll try to get it tested tonight.

Edit: Here are the instructions for posterity -

Yannick's Tech Blog: Modding a Dell Perc 6 / Dell H310 / Dell H710 (other LSI 1078 or 9223-8i based) SAS Raidcontroller

Argle, if you're ever in Northern Virginia, hit me up. I owe you a beer! That worked beautifully. Thank you
