Hello together,

I am looking for a replacement for my HP Microserver Gen 8 as it is now maxed out with 16GB RAM.

My problem: My 19" rack is only a maximum of 32cm deep, so the case may not be deeper.

Currently, the HP Microserver Gen 8 is running Proxmox with three virtual machines (XPenology, Ubuntu, Blue-Iris-Server).
A Xeon 1240v3 is currently used as the processor, but it is primarily bored.

Now, because of the 16GB RAM, something new is needed, idea:

- At least 64GB RAM, upgradeable up to 128GB RAM.
- No matter whether Intel or AMD CPU (6C / 12T)
- Case depth no deeper than 32cm, width no wider than 45cm (must fit between 19" rails)
- Possibility for 2x 3.5" HDD and 2x 2.5" SSD (I think the 2 2,5" SSD can be mounted with duct-tape ;-))
- Preferably energy-saving and not too loud
- IPMI-capable if possible
- No dedicated GPU
- DiY is no problem

Do you have any idea?

Thank you very much and kind regards from Germany,
Moritz

I have a gen8 too, 16GB RAM is the biggest problem.
2 options for me:
1. Gen 10 Plus
2. Supermicro X10SDV-4C and DIY

I also have a hpe ec200a, but the fan too noisy.

Hallo @fovecifer

thank you for your reply.
I have bought an HP Elitedesk 800 Gen. 4 a few days ago and very happy with the machine.
I have upgraded the machine with:

- an i7 8700 (not installed yet)
- 64GB RAM, thinking about 128GB RAM for ZFS.
- 2x m2. SSD WD Red NVME ZFS Mirror (RAID 1)
- 2x 14 TB Seagate Exos ZFS Mirror (RAID 1)

Of course no ECC and no IPMI, if there will be any problem I 've to connect an old monitor - that's okay for me.
