My HPE Proliant DL380 G7 works very well, I have upgraded CPU's and I have no issues with performance, also having 144GB DDR3 RAM on it.

But when looking at NIC's I wonder if there are any more recent alternatives to, example, NC550SFP, which is a 10GB 2 ports SFP+ card. From 2013 as it seems.

The Controller is a ServerEngines BE4210 (BladeEngine2TM)

Now, I am not complaining, I am sure the card works fine for what I need it to, and I don't even need 10GbE on my small soho network, but seeing no driver updates since 2014 makes me wonder if it will hold up in a combined VMWare vCenter/Windows Server environment.

Intended usage is to act as the WAN-LAN ports for my OPNSense FW.

What do you guys think?
