None have 4 x 4K. But the main point is, for Plex transcoding, you really DON'T need a quadro.
No, you don't need a Quadro per-se - but I would not discount buying this particular Quadro - for an application in a very specific thermal/size envelope (single slot card that fits in a small form factor, with a thin fan and doesn't require an external power connector), this is actually rather competitive. I mean, just look at what you couldn't do with a Radeon Pro WX4100. I don't see any AMD cards out there that will come close to the performance of this card, and only use up 75 Watts TDP. It's so easy to say that if power/slot count isn't a factor, there are tons of things that would do a better job and cheaper. But then it's just a shopping exercise, not an engineering challenge.

I hope there is a vendor out there who would put a Geforce GTX 1050 mobile on a PCIe x16 SFF card (like what happened almost 20 years ago with S3 SavageMX laptop GPUs that found its way into budget gaming cards) - this Quadro P2200 looks like a 1050 Mobile with some tweaked drivers and some nVidia artificial restriction ridiculousness lifted. You could buy one of those Eurocom MXM card + adapters - but you'll end up paying double and more for something more kludgey.

Here's another trivia for everyone out there: High end Kepler Quadro cards are the last generation without heavy penalty going from FP32 to FP64. K6000 card penalty is only 1:3. Everything else non Tesla since has been hit with 1:32 or 1:64 penalty. Fk ridiculous because i have an ancient Quadro 6000 card that is still faster than many many of the more recent P and RTX Quadro at FP64.

That's why K6000 cards are still so ridiculously expensive.

Yeah, and if you saw Linus's video on the motherboard he's been throwing shade all over it, calling it a dumb idea. If the GPU dies you don't have a way to remove it and swap it out, and its not exactly a standardized size so it doesn't work in most chassis. It's likely an arcade or casino gaming board.
Agreed. Just my point, what will people scarifice for sff goodness?

My other peeve is....the noctua fan swaps in cases where you really need the cfm/lfm....But it's so quiet now o_O

P.S. I buy noctua fans and love em :)

I got a great price on a new p2200. But my main reason for getting it was to take the load off my CPU for Plex transcoding. I run multiple ESXi VMs on the same server, and with this card, other VMs are not affected anymore when the Plex VM is playing multiple transcodes. This page indicates that the P2000 can do 17 transcode streams:

The newer P2200 is equal or better than the P2000 in various metrics. I tested with a little more than half a dozen simultaneous transcodes, and CPU utilization was very low. I could have tested more streams, but was running out of clients and interest in testing since I can see the GPU was doing its intended work.

The server where my Plex VM runs is a 24x7 server that runs many other VMs. I only had 1 slot available, and I wanted to keep power usage low and the system cool. The P2200 meets these goals. Max power consumption of the P2200 is 75W (from spec) and 73W (as tested by STH). By comparison, the 1060 max power is 120W. That's a big difference for my general purpose ESXi server that's not a dedicated game machine. Yes, price is more than a consumer card, but other considerations (1 slot, lower power, etc.) were a bigger factor in selecting this card. Stability in a server that is shared with many other VMs is also a high priority for me, so it was also appealing not having to do a driver hack to exceed the max. 2 stream limit of Nvidia's consumer line, not having to fool the VM into thinking the VM isn't a hypervisor, and not having to deal with connecting a monitor or dummy monitor. It was fairly easy to get the card working with Passthrough.

Would I get this card for PC gaming? No. For gaming I have dedicated PCs (one with GTX 1080 and another with RTX 2080). But those are for dedicated gaming and I wouldn't run Plex on this servers (to ensure Plex streaming won't be interrupted by people playing games or needing to reboot a Windows machine).

Yeah, but not everyone wants to see quad digit electric bills and server racks that sounds like Monday morning at LaGuardia airport. Or even baring that, a large tower PC next to the TV.
This has been a field neglected by the major vendors - not everyone needs a GTX1080 or RTX2060 in their machine (just look at all the low budget gamers out there with Ryzen Vega 8s and 11s), but being able to transcode is a good use case (one that Intel kinda did better on, and AMD falls on its butt for). If you look at the current crop of SFF friendly video cards it's all just a bunch of GT1030s (which is matched or exceeded by the Vega 8s or 11s) and nothing much more.

Are Ryzen Vega 8 and 11's supported on Plex transcode? I mean ultimate sff would be using the igpu on a broadwell plus CPU...but then again, that's not cost effective if you have to invest in a new platform.

Give me a 1050 and dongle and I'm set

Got last month from Provantage.
So it looks like their out of the door price with shipping and tax to FL is $377. I found an ebay seller selling new P2200 for $386 shipped.
Just checking past sales of this card shows a few cards went for as low as low $300's used in early april/march. Didn't know what price you got last month but just seems to be recent prices are at least $40 higher than what they're used to be a month ago.

I think i might wait a little more and see if i can get one at more reasonable price once market is more available. I don't need one immediately

edit: found another online dealer with $352 shipped no tax: Welcome to NextWarehouse.com
still feel like this is significantly more than what it used to be last month... am i wrong?

I paid after taxes and shipping about what you mentioned for a new card. New York sales tax is a little more than Florida. I also trust Provantage more than the typical eBay seller. Their prices fluctuate quite a bit based on market conditions even over the course of a week. New York is very strict about requiring sales tax so it’s almost impossible to avoid taxes.

I haven't found any used P2000 for less than $300+ recently. all the low price ones were back in March or earlier. With the recent price of what p2000 is going for, the price of $352 on that site i put above are definitely very reasonable for a p2200. They only have 30 in stock now. They used to have about 150 in stock early last week. So if anyone wants one, $352 is the cheapest i've found so far and they should get it asap.
