@KC8FLB
What is your power consumption? Looking at a similar set-up vs. a Ryzen board.
Thanks.
FWIW, I've got an E5-2680v4 in mine as well, using it in a desktop role. Less hardware than
@KC8FLB: 64GB, 3x M.2 NVMe, no HBA, but with two low end Workstation GPUs.
Idle is ~43w with Ubuntu running as host and Windows 10 running in a VM, each on its own GPU. ~150w at 85% CPU load tested on Ubuntu using
Stress with 24 workers.
By comparison, my wife's desktop with a Ryzen 5 3600 has similar raw computing power benchmark-wise. It idles lower (~30w) running only Windows and with a bit less hardware (32GB, a single higher-tier GPU and one PCIe drive). Under load though, the consumption is a LOT lower. In testing (with the exception of GPU testing) it never broke 100w. The impact of a 65w TDP CPU vs the 120w TDP on the Intel.
On the other hand, the E5-2680 has 14 cores vs. 6 for the Ryzen.
