I went from high 300’s wattage to high 100’s/low 200’s. I was able to drop one processor, 12 sticks of ram, and one hba card with the new motherboard.

unfortunately this new board died on me, back to the old power hungry setup until I can determine what to do next. Looking and comparing supermicro boards now.

@KC8FLB
What is your power consumption? Looking at a similar set-up vs. a Ryzen board.
Thanks.
FWIW, I've got an E5-2680v4 in mine as well, using it in a desktop role. Less hardware than @KC8FLB: 64GB, 3x M.2 NVMe, no HBA, but with two low end Workstation GPUs.

Idle is ~43w with Ubuntu running as host and Windows 10 running in a VM, each on its own GPU. ~150w at 85% CPU load tested on Ubuntu using Stress with 24 workers.

By comparison, my wife's desktop with a Ryzen 5 3600 has similar raw computing power benchmark-wise. It idles lower (~30w) running only Windows and with a bit less hardware (32GB, a single higher-tier GPU and one PCIe drive). Under load though, the consumption is a LOT lower. In testing (with the exception of GPU testing) it never broke 100w. The impact of a 65w TDP CPU vs the 120w TDP on the Intel.

On the other hand, the E5-2680 has 14 cores vs. 6 for the Ryzen.

Thanks for the information. My current box uses around 85W, and I'd like to stay around the same power budget. Ryzen looks like a better choice, but more expensive.

Short Version: New, bulk packaged with I/O Shield and Driver disk. Mine came well packed and double boxed. These are C612 chipset & support E5-v3 & v4. They don't have IPMI but do support S3 sleep, so probably best used as a desktop. One PCIe slot supports bifurcation (although I haven't tested that myself yet) (EDIT: Bifurcation tested to work, see Post #9 below). Seller accepted my initial BO of $140. Listing says shipping to U.S. only. Fujitsu D3348-B23 GS 2 Motherboard | eBay
Aaargh!! They have the listing so it can't ship to US as I am registered in UK. I've ordered and had items delivered to US many times before.

Anyone knowing of other deals on LGA 2011-3 motherboards, please post them! I know there's folks out there looking.
Yes, please!! Me too! I need an ATX or E-ATX board and 2x E5-2600 v4 CPU's too for a NAS I'm building.

I picked up one of these with a BO of $140. Paired it with an E5-2695 V4 (from this thread), a Noctua NH-U9DX i4, and 2 sticks of 32GB PC4-2133P RAM. Everything finally arrived and so I'll be setting it up soon.

Going to be replacing my current home server which has an e5-1650 v2, so going from 6 cores to 18 should be a pretty nice upgrade. Will update when I get everything put together

I would like to request for the latest bios for this motherboard, or a link I can download from.
Also if I have 4 sticks of ram (16GB each) , is there a particular order of ram slots I should place them in?

much thanks

Everything is available in the link on the first post: ftp://ftp.kontron.com/Products/Motherboards/EoL_Motherboards/EoL_ExtendedLifeCycle/D3348-B/ copy and paste into file explorer or what ever and grab the files you want. I forget the exact numbering, but fill the black slots first.

Pretty sure I have some stability issues going on with mine. Could be the free old quadro card from work. Free for a reason perhaps. it doesnt hard lock, but it gets a bit odd. nothing in the esxi logs as to what is going on either. Temp levels look good. Guess it time to "borrow" for testing a different quadro from the office.

Hey, sorry for reviving an old thread but does anyone know what the difference between the D3348-B23 GS 2 and the GS 1 version is?

Most important to me is that the board take e5-26xx v4 processors.
