I wonder whether the SN2100 supports OTG on the front ports for plugging in a USB Stick with a MLNX-OS
yes, it do support OTG .
for the recovery guide. basically you just need boot the usb and choose install (don't need uninstall first, this will take long time), done.
(sorry reinstall sn2100 last year, detail already forgot, but it's easy and take 15-30 minutes )

Certain types of StorFly SSDs are also known bad:
English link Document Display | HPE Support Center

Very useful article.

Seems like I'm home free, mine is listed as non problematic.

Examples of two SSD drive types that do not have any known issues and do not need to be upgraded with this tool:
  • SSDPN: VSF302XC016G-MLX1 (SSD Firmware Version: 0202)
  • SSDPN: DHM24-16GD09BC1DC-92 (SSD Firmware Version: S17411i)

@Maddox Awesome, that's helpful.

EDIT:
Code:
Model: StorFly VSFBM4XC Rev: -000
So I assume I'm not affected.

Just for my own edification: Where's the "known procedure for SN2700" recovery guide for OTG?

But I don't know whether this includes the M.2 model used in the SN2100.

Anyway, I used Transcend TS64GMTS552T-I (MTS552T series with industrial temp range, you can also use the normal one if cheaper, but in Germany the -I is cheaper than the normal one) and when those weren't available I used the TS500GMTS425S

For SN2700/SN2410/SB7700 I always use the TS128GMSA452T2 model.

I wonder whether the SN2100 supports OTG on the front ports for plugging in a USB Stick with a MLNX-OS installer.
@nasbdh9 do you happen to have the recovery guide for SN2100? I wonder how they do it.
Please refer to doc in mega link

system only supports installation in internal disk, because the boot disk is hardcoded in the ONIE configuration

PSA:

When recovering SN2100, DO NOT SET TO UEFI ONLY as you would do on SN2700
SN2100 needs legacy boot. Otherwise it will get stuck in an infinite loop trying to update the BIOS, because it cannot read the DMI and the auto bios update script is terribly written.

But on SN2100, 2020.11-5.3.0005-115200 + X86_64-3.10.4206-installer.bin works in legacy mode (which does not on SN2700)

Hey everyone!
Last week our company bought mellanox msn2410-CB2FC (refurbished) which has ONIE and cumulus 4.2.1 on board. When it loads to cumulus all fans go to 100%.

fan1: 21459 RPM
fan2: 18050 RPM
fan3: 21126 RPM
fan4: 18292 RPM
fan5: 21802 RPM
fan6: 18050 RPM
fan7: 21459 RPM
fan8: 18050 RPM

So my question is could someone share an update for cumulus, because we think, that this version has some bugs?

New to Mellanox switches and STH! I have a HPE SN2010M that I need to get Onyx back onto. The device currently seems to only have ONIE installed and I can't seem to find clear directions as to how to get back to the factory image so that I can start over. Help!

I have instructions on how to install Onyx (aka MLNX-OS) on a SN2700.
Melanox support provided me with these instructions (long story).
Hi, @awedio I sent you a DM asking if you can share these instructions. I have two SN2700s that I'd like to reload. Thanks!

The instructions on the MEGA download (earlier posts) are much better than what I have.
Those are the instructions I now use.

ps, sorry for the late reply.

I might have ended up learning this the hard way.

I used to pull the image links from the Lenovo support page on Nvidia's site, there's a new version 3.10.6004 I tried to install that on my switch SN2410 and on reboot my switch would load everything but get hung at the Modules are being configured screen.

I tried with no cable in mgmt0 port and the result are the same. I booted my switch back into 3.10.5000 and even factory reset it just to be safe but the results are the same.

I think what happened is that the image files on that page are for infinity band switches and not the Ethernet switches and with 3.10.6004 there was enough code drift that it stopped loading.

Please do not install a version greater than 3.10.4*** on the ETH device.
According to the current situation, the version starting from 3.10.5*** does not include support for ETH devices

For the "ONYX" system of ETH, there has been no major version update for a year. From last year to now, it is in the state of maintenance version 3.10.4***
What Nvidia may not have made clear is that "ONYX" may have entered LTS status for ETH devices
After that, new ETH devices will not support ONYX, that is to say, they will only support Cumulus Linux and SONiC (this is the current situation for SPC4, SN5×××)
Of course none of the above information has been confirmed from Nvidia, at least I haven't found any public documentation to confirm this is the case
@Patrick Is it convenient for you to consult this question with Nvidia
